Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk, and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Wells Fargo’s Corporate Credit Group is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and managing risk for all Wells Fargo businesses. This Credit Portfolio Consultant 4 role reports into a team that owns & manages credit risk for our consumer credit card line of business.

Our Credit Card line of business has been growing over the years. One of the key areas of growth is expanding new card originations through our internet channel.  The role of this Consultant is to design and develop fit-for-purpose underwriting and credit line assignment strategies for our internet acquired account program. This role is highly visible given that it is one of the strategic initiatives of the bank.

Specifically the person in this Credit Portfolio Consultant 4 - Digital Acquisition Credit Risk Strategy role will:

  • Develop and work on strategic initiatives related to improvements in our underwriting for accounts acquired through the internet channel
  • Develop effective Initial Credit line assignment programs for accounts acquired through the internet channel
  • Define capabilities, tests, and strategy required to institute effective underwriting and line assignment programs
  • Work with the right stakeholders to secure buy-in to build/launch the key tests/capabilities
  • Build strong relationships with the underwriting team, other line management teams, and business teams to goal seek global optimal solutions
  • Contribute to fostering a positive team culture

Preferred locations are San Francisco, CA - Concord, CA - Beaverton, OR; however other Wells Fargo centers will be considered.


Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of risk experience

Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in a quantitative discipline
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex technical problems

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 7+ years of Risk Management experience at a financial institution, preferably in unsecured credit risk
  • Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Economics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or Business
  • Commercial/business minded (understands the business & is able to make balanced risk-return decisions)
  • Good balance of results focused, innovative, well-managed relationship building skills
  • Strong analytical & critical thinking skills

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
