The Payments, Virtual Solutions, and Innovation (PVSI) team includes Operations, Cards and Retail Services, Deposit Products Group, the Innovation Group, Treasury Management, Merchant Services, Payment Solutions, and Wells Fargo Virtual Channels and the professional services teams that partner with these businesses. Job Description
The Deposit Products Group Risk (DPGR) team is seeking an individual with a strong analytic / data mining background that loves to use data to solve complex and in depth business issues, drive new strategies to mitigate and reduce deposit losses, and innovate new MIS to drive understanding of key portfolios.

The candidate filling this role will be part of a team that manages Adhoc analytics, Business Deposits and Global Remittance risk management strategies including identifying opportunities for continued improvement. Strategies include new account opening risk screening, marketing and product management strategies, Global Remittance strategies, Complaint / Social Media analytics and other ad-hoc risk analytics and processes. Successful candidate will drive strategy improvements that will ensure a balance between risk mitigation, revenue, profitability, and customer experience.

A major component of this role is creating new and insightful MIS for portfolio risk management. This includes building views for key leaders and business partners. Additionally, the individual will act as a key collaborator with key business partners, including Business Deposits, Internet Services Group, Global Remittance, Business Direct, Phonebank, DSSG, Deposit Fraud Operations, Debit / Credit fraud risk, BMG and more.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive new and improved MIS capabilities including creating insightful dashboards / data visualizations to track and monitor key business metrics
  • Proactively identify opportunities to evolve existing risk strategies. Includes conducting analytics, building new strategies, building / designing business cases, presenting and obtaining Senior Management buy-in. Will also support the implementation, testing, and monitoring of strategies
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify business needs, risk exposure, and requirements for a variety of marketing, risk, conversion/merger related projects
  • Conduct score, vintage and strategy performance analysis and monitoring
  • Conduct ad hoc analytics and trends analyses on a regular basis enabling the risk and product management teams to act on data insights
  • Enhance Deposit Risk’s ability to leverage new ‘big data’ databases and techniques


Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of risk experience
  • 3+ years of experience with SAS or SQL, or other data management, reporting and query tools
  • A BS/BA degree or higher



Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in gathering, analyzing and interpreting large datasets
  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills with ability to turn findings into strategic imperatives
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial analysis, forecasting, modeling and tracking
  • Knowledge and understanding of data visualization
  • Extensive statistical modeling, analysis, optimization and segmentation experience



Other Desired Qualifications
  • 4+ years business analysis including strategy development experience
  • Excellent knowledge of SAS and SQL (preferably in a Teradata environment) and data mining skills. Should include translating complex data from multiple sources, formats, data structures into actionable and tangible strategies
  • Strong analytical skills a must, with demonstrated experience in connecting the dots on complex data and projects, staying focused on what is important and translating data into meaningful information
  • Background in leveraging BI Tools such as Microstrategy, Tableau, and etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills and presenting complex ideas / analyses to leaders
  • Demonstrated experience identifying innovative ideas / strategies and then bringing the ideas / strategies to full implementation. Should include experience building / implementing risk strategies
  • Quantitative degree, preferably in statistics, mathematics, economics or operations research
  • Experience using ‘Big Data’ databases and techniques such as Teradata Aster or Hadoop
  • Python coding experience including leveraging statistical and text mining packages
  • Understanding of logistic regression, decision trees, and other statistical procedures / techniques. Working knowledge in SAS Enterprise Guide, Enterprise Miner, or other statistical package
  • Experience and proven rules development knowledge using an automated decisioning system or business rules management platform such as ZOOT WebRules
