Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Wholesale Testing & Validation has an exciting opportunity on the Financial Crimes Testing & Validation Team. This position is for a Compliance Consultant 4 who will be responsible for supporting regulatory compliance financial crimes testing and pre-validation activities across Wholesale Banking.

Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Working with Wholesale Banking complex lines of business to execute required AML/BSA/OFAC compliance and operational risk testing in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Completing validation coverage activities to assess the adequacy of corrective actions that address the risk and control issues identified by regulators, Wells Fargo Audit Services (WFAS), or compliance testing examinations.
  • Exhibiting creditable challenge and evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, and internal controls while maintaining professional independence throughout the testing engagement. Understanding and working with the different BSA processes across multiple Wholesale Banking Lines of Business.
  • Managing relationships with all line of defense testing teams (including but not limited to the following groups: WGRO, WFCRC, BART, FCRM and WFAS.
  • Documenting end to end process flows including dependencies, controls, inputs/outputs, systems, gap identification, etc.
  • Reporting findings and providing recommendations to both Wholesale Banking and key Stakeholders.
  • Providing compliance expertise and potential solutions to identified gaps and associated risks as applicable to the different Wholesale lines of business
  • Leading testing engagements including drafting test scripts, conducting testing, reviewing results, summarizing test results, drafting final reports, and presenting results to senior management and business partners
  • Ability to manage and provide guidance to a small team of testers to ensure review work is completed in a timely manner and is consistent with Wholesale Testing & Validation standards

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance requirements surrounding USA PATRIOT Act and Anti Money Laundering (AML) requirements
  • Audit or internal controls testing experience
  • Experience creating, executing, and documenting compliance testing
  • Experience reviewing testing strategies and methodologies; evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products and internal controls; and identifying issues resulting from internal and/or external compliance examinations
  • Experience testing policy and procedures/control testing
  • Ability to identify gaps through risk based testing
  • Experience creating and executing test scripts
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
  • Ability to provide leadership by coaching, training, and mentoring
  • Ability to provide leadership to a matrixed organization environment
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Proven experience with conducting risk and process assessments
  • Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience executing detailed test instructions, deciphering complex documentation, and conducting  quality assurance reviews to assess controls or process effectiveness
  • ACAMS Certification
  • Background in AML/BSA, specifically conducting regulatory compliance reviews and/or assisting in the validation of identified issues within a business’ program and/or Consent Order remediation work.
  • The ability to provide creditable challenge to ensure established processes are operating effectively.
