Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally.  Our 9 major business lines include Business Banking, Middle Market Banking, Government and Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Financial Institutions Group, Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Wells Fargo Securities, and the Investment Portfolio. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.

Wholesale Commercial Real Estate (WCRE) operates throughout the United States, as well as Canada and the United Kingdom, to deliver a comprehensive platform of financing and banking products for experienced commercial real estate companies including balance sheet lending, CMBS origination and distribution, loan servicing, agency financing for multifamily properties, and debt and equity capital for affordable housing.

Duties include: representing the bank in establishing, developing and maintaining client relationships with key sources of loan demand; actively participating in structuring loans and preparing recommendations with top management officer of the bank for the most critical/complex clients; originating, evaluating, and underwriting mortgage loans, long-term mortgage financing and short-term construction loans (loan structures may include equity features); providing risk assessment; generating targeted returns from investments; structuring credit terms; coordinating the due diligence effort; and marketing. Knowledge and expertise are equal to managers.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following, and adhering to and if applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relationship management experience, commercial real estate experience, or a combination of both

Desired Qualifications

  • Commercial real estate underwriting experience
  • Experience developing and cultivating professional relationships
  • Ability to generate revenue and actively participate in the successful completion of complex transactions
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment in the application of analytical conclusions to credit approval, structure, and management recommendations
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate asset management, real estate finance, underwriting, origination, and/or servicing.  Other functionally relevant experience will be considered;
  • Experience in reviewing and analyzing complex loan documents, intercreditor documents and deal documents;
  • Strong credit and risk management exposure;
  • Strategic thinker capable of critically evaluating stakeholder value;
  • Must be detail oriented, highly motivated and possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate leadership competencies, initiative and ability to work independently
