Commercial Analyst, Commercial Portfolio Strategy

Description About the Position : To contribute to generating $100M in new operating profit by collaborating with product owners and driving accountability and performance. The Commercial Analyst will help run our portfolio of growth products and services by evaluating how products make money and identifying ways to maximize profitability and customer value. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Develops business models for products and services. Balances product portfolio by utilizing market research data, business strategy, customer segmentation, etc. Identifies and implements opportunities to streamline the product portfolio and bundle products together to maximize product penetration. Supports product owners by providing analysis on competitive environment, profitability drivers, regulatory funding mechanisms, product pricing, etc. Understands and follows internal and external compliance requirements/standards and makes adjustments to strategies as necessary. Analyzes data and reviews analysis from others and identify and resolve basic data issues. Maximizes efficiency in constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree required and 3+ years related work experience. Understands market specific implications of commercial strategies. Experience building models, working with financial or statistical software a plus Energy Regulatory knowledge is a plus Business analysis (e.g. profitability analysis) experience preferred Finance/accounting experience preferred Strong experience in product management Capability Requirements: Organizational & analytical skills Strong problem solving skills Product Management Stakeholder/ People Management Flexibility/adaptability in moving quickly between projects Ability to work independently with excellent time management and organization This position is one of National Grid’s career path roles which provide for promotional opportunities within and across salary bands as you develop and evolve in the position by gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
