Finance Shared Services (FSS), part of Enterprise Finance & Information Technology (EF&IT), provides strategic guidance and streamlined support to meet increasing demands facing Wells Fargo’s businesses. FSS provides a strong, scalable and more unified model to effectively deliver shared services to the enterprise. FSS is responsible for Enterprise Global Services (EGS) - Delivery, Enterprise Portfolio Management Office, Enterprise Transformation Services, Corporate Properties and Corporate Security, Operational Resiliency, and the Legal Entity Office, FSS Governance, FSS Strategy and Front Line Risk Management.

The Position

The FSS Strategy team is currently seeking a Business Initiatives Consultant 3 (BIC 3). This role will interface with key FSS functions, support partners and other stakeholders to help develop, launch and manage an integrated strategic planning process that establishes “One FSS” priorities and drives key initiatives. The BIC 3 will work on ad hoc projects (e.g., location strategy, make vs. buy framework) that impact / drive FSS’ overall strategic direction and functions. They will also help us to leverage and translate relevant industry research and insights that inform our evolving operating model.

The position reports to Gary Braitman, FSS Strategic Initiatives Manager. The key responsibilities of the Business Support Functional Consultant role include:

  • Help run consolidated strategic planning efforts across FSS (e.g., EGS, CPG, HR, Finance) that establish priorities and drive integrated and holistic, long-range solutions for organizational effectiveness and efficiency
    • Support template development, completion, review, editing and reuse
    • Record and implement ideas for continuous process and template improvement
    • Define priorities and their supporting initiatives for the contributing teams and FSS overall
    • Address mapping requirements to ensure integration and alignment across plans
    • Validate qualitative and quantitative information for provenance, accuracy and timeliness, and document final authoritative sources
    • Review execution plans, and develop specific tracking metrics with the accountable parties
    • Run the metrics tracking and review process
    • Support issue identification, tracking and resolution with a broad array of leaders across the organization globally
    • Manage appropriate strategic planning forums to discuss process, progress, best practices, issue escalation, industry trends, audit/ regulatory topics and stakeholder feedback
    • Organize in-person working sessions and summits
    • Document our evolving processes for review and audit purposes
    • Design, run and document credible challenge exercises
    • Ensure compliance with the Bank's privacy, security, document management and retention policies
    • Link our FSS-planning process and its deliverables to the Corporate Strategy consolidated plan requirements and timeline
  • Drive ad hoc projects that deploy a strong decision-making process, including problem statement definition, criteria development, decision set analysis, participant selection, later business case development and an execution plan
    • Develop project plans, frame and conduct insightful analyses, identify solutions, and develop business cases and implementation plans
    • Facilitate decision-making and issue resolution as required with a broad array of leaders from across the organization
    • Obtain buy-in to proposed solutions/ plans from stakeholders
    • Support implementation of developed solutions/ plans, as necessary
  • Gain and leverage knowledge about offshoring to support EGS strategic initiatives, including decision rationale for locations, in-house offshoring vs. vendor options, efficiency initiatives and ad hoc projects
  • Serve as the team representative in various FSS and other forums, as needed
  • Conduct research about relevant industry trends and insights across FSS functions
  • Partner with and assist the FSS Business Management Team (also under FSS-Strategy), as needed
  • Travel, as needed


Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: project management, implementation, or strategic planning
  • 5+ years of leadership experience



Desired Qualifications

  • Basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders
  • Experience presenting with multimedia tools such as Live Meeting or PowerPoint
  • Ability to present to multiple levels of management
  • Strong strategic planning skills
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities



Other Desired Qualifications
  • Track record of building proactive and effective partnerships across the global footprint (e.g., teams, local and national boundaries, time zones) to identify, track and resolve issues
  • Knowledge of and articulated points of view spanning key business, economic and political issues of relevance to FSS and Wells Fargo
  • Execute complex initiatives by their due dates with high quality and within budget
  • Assess a wide variety of financial data, market research reports and project documents for their importance and relevance to FSS teams
  • Collaborate across teams, such as experience working with the Corporate Strategy Team on specific deliverables
  • Formal training in information design and decision making
  • Tenure within a customer-facing team or line of business (LOB)
  • Demonstrable business English editing skills and experience
  • Experience leading the design and implementation of a new process, project or product
  • Timely completion of all mandatory training, with voluntary classes indicating broader skills development interests and efforts
  • Scenario planning skills
