It all begins with you.  The Payments, Virtual Solutions, and Innovation (PVSI) team includes Operations, Consumer Credit Card, Retail Services, Consumer Deposits, the Innovation Group, Treasury Management, Merchant Services and Wells Fargo Virtual Channels and the professional services teams that partner with these businesses. PVSI's focus is on delivering the next generation of payments and deposit capabilities and advancing our digital and online offerings to design new customer experiences and products.  Its guiding principles are to start with the customer, move faster, and partner effectively.  Wells Fargo Virtual Channels (WFVC) is part of the PVSI business division. WFVC serves consumer and small business customers through digital (online, mobile, and social) and contact centers (phone, email, and correspondence). We provide customers with convenient ways to manage their accounts, enable digital payments, provide solutions that meet their financial needs, and more. WFVC serves over 27 million customers through our digital channels and support over 5.8 billion customer interactions annually through digital and contact centers. This role will play an important role in Wells Fargo Virtual Channels (WFVC) Consumer CRM team, focused on the management of our program-level backlog. This role operates in the enterprise level to drive the delivery of value. Candidates should have, in-depth understanding of the specific activities, tools, and mechanics used to effectively deliver value to the enterprise. This role will leverage his/her experience to take scaled agile processes, templates, artifacts and tools, based on industry best practices (SAFE), and adapt them to the WFVC program delivery environment, taking into account the existing Speed to Market iterative development methodology.  The Program Backlog Manager will partner and consult with the Consumer CRM Strategy Lead, Capability Leaders, Program Delivery Support, Design & Tech Leaders, Business Implementation Manager, Agile Coach, Scrum Masters, Scrum Teams, and Information Technology (IT) and Business Project Managers, to manage the program intake, prioritization and disbursement of work across multiple scrum teams, and ensure the continuous flow of the program-level backlog. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Understand strategic themes, use cases, business goals, and KPIs across entire program
  • Manage and prioritize program-level backlog, on a continuous basis, in partnership with the Capability Leaders and Strategy Lead
  • Facilitate quarterly Big Room / PI / Agile Release Train Planning workshops to ensure continuous alignment to strategic priorities, internal / external dependencies, team capacity and SME knowledge / skillset
  • Partner with Capability Leaders, Design Team and Tech Oversight team to continuously validate program board against business priority, user experience, and technical feasibility
  • Define, maintain and manage a dependency matrix across the program
  • Partner with Program Manager to facilitate Scrum of Scrums ceremony to continuously manage dependencies across the program
  • Define, maintain and communicate the program quarterly program board
  • Ensure Capability Leaders and Accountable Leaders understand their scope, and its priority
  • Ensures consistent backlog quality and sizing across the program, in partnership with Agile Coach and scrum teams
  • Define, maintain, program-level release plan with Release Management and Business Implementation teams
  • Manage program-level intake process, for internal and external-driven scope requests, in partnership with Strategy Lead, Capability Leaders and Business Implementation / Feedback team
  • Facilitate Intake & Prioritization meeting with Capability Leaders, Design Team and Tech Oversight team
  • Partner with Program Manager to monitor portfolio reporting monthly metrics to convey maturity, ability to improve code from sprint to sprint, quality, and throughput ability
  • Define, maintain and manage program backlog structure and format of work within JIRA (or other agile management software)
  • Ability to manage complex data and reporting projects requiring coordination of resources at different levels both internally and externally
  • Ability to manage large complex cross-matrix organization that includes: multiple business, technology and risk disciplines with direct leadership; the development of the strategy for information security; and implementation of roadmaps for the Enterprise

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: project management, implementation, or strategic planning
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • 5+ years of Agile experience
  • 2 + years of experience with Agile tools

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with one or more Agile tools used for tracking user stories or backlogs, such as JIRA
  • Knowledge and understanding of Scaled Agile Framework (Safe implementation)
  • Knowledge and understanding Wells Fargo Speed to Market iterative development methodology
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial services industry: retail, wealth management, brokerage, or retirement

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
