Job Summary:

EY is a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services. The insights and services we deliver help build trust and confidence in the capital markets and in economies around the world. In the Northeast Region, the Brand and External Communications (BEC) team — is responsible for enhancing EY’s brand and reputation. The team works closely with senior leaders of the firm to promote all the main functions of the organization, with a focus on industry sectors and regional initiatives.

The Brand and PR Specialist will support, promote and enhance EY’s external identity by collaborating with the BMC and BEC pillar leader to develop and execute strategic programs and initiatives consistent with the regional BMC goals.

The candidate must be an excellent writer, editor and confident relationship builder. S/he must communicate creatively and effectively about EY with external vendors such as PR and social media agencies as well as reporters, editors, news directors and producers of newspaper, television, radio, magazine, trade publications and Internet outlets in a targeted and timely manner, using best practices. The candidate must also be a highly effective communicator and possess the ability to properly relay brand importance and consistency to high-level internal stakeholders.


  • Collaborate with pillar leader and contracted agencies on strategy as well as tactical activities to support regional Brand/PR initiatives.

  • Create drafts for review and edits press releases, key messages, briefing documents, talking points, statements, FAQs, award submissions, by-lined articles etc.

  • Support BEC leader with executive leadership external activity such as PR opportunities, social media strategy, speaking engagements, sponsorship execution, collaboration with internal communications and teams, award submissions and overall brand amplification

  • Assist in providing counsel and strategic advice to leaders and spokespeople that connects PR goals to business goals.

  • Work closely with the BEC leader and agencies to assess the value of interview requests from the media, sources appropriate spokespeople and coordinates interviews.

  • Support partners with various external communication and preparation on media interviews that arise.

  • Assist in the coordination of local and regional brand and public relations strategies and implementation of Global and Americas campaigns

  • Be an integral team member supporting upcoming highly visible brand campaigns and initiatives

  • Evaluate thought leadership and studies; advise on its relevancy for Northeast region external communications strategy, tailor content for local and regional audiences

  • Assist in the management of social media strategy including LinkedIn profile revisions, engagement and paid social media efforts

  • Coordinate process to amplify firm messages and thought leadership through regional social media influencers

  • Manage regional award submission tracker and coordinate with local offices on regional lists and award submissions

  • Assist in Global and Americas award submissions requests including Global Brand Survey and Fortune 100 Best Places to Work

  • Support Marketing Managers on BEC pillar components including guidance on sponsorship, advertising, traditional and social media.

  • Manage metric tracker to gauge the effectiveness of BEC programs

  • As required, assist with various BEC projects

This position reports to the regional Brand and External Communications leader.

Skills and requirements

  • 5-7 years of public relations experience required (agency experience preferred)
  • Must be a confident, self-motivated communicator with a positive and professional approach
  • Must possess exceptional writing and editing skills, as well as excellent verbal communication skills
  • Must possess excellent organizational, project management and planning skills
  • Must have fluency in the traditional and digital media landscape, understand media needs and relationships, and ideally have existing relationships with media outlets
  • Proficient with standard technology including Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, LinkedIn, Twitter and emerging social media channels.
  • Should understand the role of marketing and how building brand through effective PR fits into the communications ecosystem.
  • Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate, with excellent attention to detail
  • Possess critical thinking skills and the ability to protect confidential information
  • Have a tactical understanding of all primary social media platforms, experience with social media advocacy programs highly desired
  • Ability to produce a high-level of work in deadline-driven environment
  • BA degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or a related discipline
