Brand and External Communications Assistant Director, Southeast Region

Join our Core Business Services (CBS) team and you will help support the important business enablement functions that keep our organization running strong. Major teams within CBS include Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Enterprise Support Services, Brand Marketing and Communications, Business Development, Knowledge and Risk Management. Through internal communications, public relations and corporate communications, you’ll provide a wide range of marketing and communications services to internal and external audiences. On EY’s Southeast region Brand, Marketing and Communications team, you will be responsible for amplifying the EY brand and promoting EY and its leaders to a targeted audience across 17 offices in 5 states, practice areas and markets.

The Brand and External Communications associate is a proactive, strategic thinker, a skilled public relations professional and a trusted advisor to our firm leaders. As a key member of the Brand and External Communications team, you will display a strong presence among EY stakeholders, build relationships with colleagues across the company and demonstrate intellectual curiosity and impeccable judgment.

As part of your role, you will manage proactive press outreach and reactive media relations within the Southeast Region. You will draft and pitch story ideas, press releases, support content for bylined articles and assist with social media channels. You will lead media trainings for our leaders and prepare our spokespeople for interviews. You will leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new relationships with business media; and monitor, analyze and report on PR results on a regular basis.

You will support our broader marketing team through key initiatives like the Entrepreneur of the Year program, recommend creative ways to amplify EY thought leadership, and support paid and earned social media initiatives that will help to communicate our purpose of building a better working world through strategic campaigns.

The role will also include oversight of external agency relationships.

This position reports to the regional Brand and External Communications leader.

Skills and requirements

• 7+ years of public relations experience required (agency experience preferred)

• Must be a confident, self-motivated communicator with a positive and professional approach

• Must possess exceptional writing and editing skills, as well as excellent verbal communication skills

• Must possess excellent organizational, project management and planning skills

• Must have fluency in the traditional and digital media landscape, understand media needs and relationships, and ideally have existing relationships with media outlets

• Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate, with excellent attention to detail

• Possess critical thinking skills and the ability to protect confidential information

• Have a tactical understanding of all primary social media platforms, experience with social media advocacy programs highly desired

• Ability to produce a high-level of work in deadline-driven environment

• BA degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or a related discipline
