Do you love analytics and data?  Did you find this job posting by implementing an algorithm that looked through hundreds of thousands of job posting to find the right one?  Warner Bros is expanding its Big Data engineer team and is looking for the right person to help define the technology direction as well as lead Big Data engineers to help turn billions of rows of data into concrete, actionable results.  

Everyone on the team is hands on, and this role is no exception.  If you are looking to only design and give direction, this role is not for you.  We love the cloud (AWS) and open source tools (especially Spark and Hadoop), so we do need you to have significant experience with both.
 
What will you do?
 
Define enhancements to the architecture and technology stack to enable the WB Data Cloud to scale and process additional data sources and evolving requirements
  • Lead a team of Big Data Engineers in developing data pipelines and analytic processes
  • Develop and deploy especially challenging projects which require advanced data and analytics knowledge (as the lead, you can tackle the toughest challenges and teach the team)
  • Responsible for vendor and technology evaluations, constantly looking for the right tools to support key initiatives
  • Coordinate with the head of the Big Data DevOps team to streamline deployment processes and launch CI/CD
  • Work with the Security and PMO to help the team follow the best practices
What do we require from you?
  • Smarts! A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • At least 5 years of Big Data analytics experience, including deploying solutions with Spark on Hadoop clusters as well as building advanced data pipelines
  • In depth experience with AWS, specifically the data and analytics tools
  • Experience working with consumer data
  • Knowledge and experience on how to build secure solutions
  • Huge passion for Big Data and a desire to teach and develop team members
  • Scripting in either one of these languages – Python, Bash, Shell, etc.
  • Awesome communication skills – This role will interact with stakeholders across WBT as well as the internal team

  • UNIX and Hadoop Administration experience (helps when working with the admins)
  • Elastic Search experience for search and discovery across large data sets
