Bayer Animal Health Technical Sales Specialist (San Diego, California Metro and Hawaii Territory)

The primary responsibilities of this role, Bayer Animal Health Technical Sales Specialist, San Diego, California Metro and Hawaii Territory, are to: 

 

  • Maintain territory sales at or above the established sales goal;
  • Develop and utilize selling skills to identify and satisfy customer needs;
  • Develop and maintain an accurate territory profile. This information is used to plan activities and promotional efforts. This profile functions as a marketing plan for the territory;
  • Routinely calls on key customers and influence leaders (as designated in customer base) to increase consumer demand for Bayer products;
  • Establish and maintain accurate, up-to-date customer call records. Evaluate all customers based upon potential and probability. Classify accounts based on these equation and develop and follows a strategic work or travel plan that ensures contact with all 'key' accounts every 4-6 weeks;
  • Organize and conduct product training for customers and their clients and assist in the development of selling skills and product knowledge of distributor sales personnel;
  • Make recommendations of new product needs or applications to business unit management;
  • Report to business unit management, on a timely basis, all important issues in the marketplace;
  • Evaluate competitive products and reports to business unit management;
  • Identify and maintain personal and telephone contact with key distributor reps within the territory;
  • In addition to the previously outlined activities/objectives, a technical sales specialist may be asked to:
    • Assist regional manager in interviewing candidates for other sales positions as needed;
    • Serve in an advisory role in the planning of sales and marketing strategies;
    • Coach and train other sales representatives;
    • Participate in various product and sales task force groups as requested by business unit management and approved by the regional manager;
    • Assist the regional manager in such things as developing Marketing plans with distributor headquarters; distributor goal setting and coordinating distributor headquarter s activities within the Bayer sales organization;
    • Represent Bayer at university career days, or other similar regional functions;
    • Represent Bayer at national conventions or trade shows;

Required Qualifications:

 

  • A college degree and five to seven years of previous selling experience;
  • The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing also must be demonstrated;
  • Presentation skills are also vital to this position as many group presentations are necessary;
  • Professional use of audio and video equipment is also necessary;
  • Computer competency is a position requirement - including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software expertise.

 

The position will require an individual to live within the San Diego, California Metro Area or Hawaii.
