GMis looking for Autonomous Driving Ethernet Controller DREs to lead thedevelopment and execution of the Autonomous Driving Ethernet Controllers


 Role Summary


Thesuccessful candidate will be responsible for component development and implementationof the AD Ethernet controller, including both hardware and software.  The Controller DRE will lead the featureexecution, identify and resolve issues and provide technical direction to a supplier.


Job Description


  • Leads the development and implementation of the Controller and its features including hardware and software
  • Develops component technical specification as well as statement of requirements
  • Leads formal design, peer, and quality reviews
  • Leads resolution of technical issues
  • Leads product development team meetings
  • Leads/manages supplier resident engineers
  • Supports sourcing activities
  • Primary GM engineering interface with the component suppliers
  • Intimate knowledge of hardware and software interfaces
  • Insures all vehicle program imperatives (cost, timing, investment, and quality) are met
  • Generates technical solutions for current, new and major programs
  • Provides technical leadership for advanced technology development
  • Performs complex design analysis
  • Develops engineering designs
  • Implements engineering changes
  • Initiates documents to provide engineering authority and to maintain math data
  • Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support build programs
  • Plans and implements test and/or development programs
  • Releases parts and subsystems for production
  • Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations
  • Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering, such as manufacturing
  • Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
  • Travels as required

Required Skills and Experience


  • Demonstrated experience with Ethernet hardware, software, and related protocols
  • Experience with network switching and routing technologies
  • General understanding of PCB design criteria
  • Experience developing and working with system level requirements
  • Experience in the development and execution of component and system level test plans and validation of electronic modules
  • Experience in sourcing components and  managing suppliers
  • History of success in applying advanced technology in complex systems
  • High level of oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and has a passion to shape the future
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with automotive Ethernet
  • Experience with automotive network protocols such as CAN and LIN
  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience in Design and Development of Safety Critical Systems and Components
  • Experience developing control and diagnostic systems
  • DFMEA training
  • DFSS Certification
