What is Spectrum Networks: Spectrum Networks is a growing organization, home of 27 Local News Channels nationwide and 9 Local/Regional Sports Channels, inclusive of 3 Los Angeles based Sports Networks. The Spectrum News Environment: Spectrum News is a 24-hour news network that requires employees be flexible and available to work various shifts throughout the day, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays. The network is currently focused on the morning news, which means your day will start in the middle of the night, but it also means your workday will end around noon (most days).

What we’re looking for a Digital Content Associate Producer for Spectrum News to create and maintain content for the website and related digital platforms: social media, email newsletters, etc. - with the goal of building an audience of loyal, local visitors. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Edit and adapt broadcast television material for digital, working closely with news department to ensure continuity with news coverage incorporating video, images, written copy and other elements for use across digital portfolio (web, social, newsletters etc.)
  • Create significant and original daily stories for distribution across Spectrum News platforms and products – this content, in some cases, will be gathered and/or produced from the field and could include special digital projects as assigned
  • Create engaging content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media sites that draw eyeballs and promote loyalty to digital and television
  • Participate actively in daily news editorial meetings to identify and curate stories that are best suited for digital platforms
  • Work collaboratively with other newsroom personnel on story development, breaking news, and marketing teasers to seamlessly syndicate content on television and digital platforms
  • Monitor analytics to ensure and maximize interaction and engagement for current and potential stories
  • Collaborate with reporters and Proofread/edit digital content submitted by other staff members
  • Allocate time wisely and prioritize based on guidance from Senior producer and management
  • Partner and share content with digital staff in broader Spectrum News regions
Qualifications:
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate solutions; ability to relate well with diverse populations
  • Requires adaptability, enthusiasm, initiative and a positive approach to problem solving
  • Must be able to work under time pressure deadlines, work different or extended shifts and flexible with schedule changes. Willing and able to work weekends and holidays
  • Knowledge of content management systems, social media platforms, digital analytics, non-linear video editing, Photoshop
  • Must demonstrate proficiency at multi-tasking and must have the ability to prioritize, work independently and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong collaboration skills, ability to work effectively within a team environment and interact with all personnel within the organization
  • Keen attention to detail
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or related field and 2+ years experience working in news or related field.

  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time
  • Overtime may be required to meet deadlines
  • Varying schedule as a result of changing production, breaking news and/or daily news coverage requirements
  • Dexterity of hands, fingers to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other compute components
  • Provide 24x7, 365 days per year, on-call support. May entail phone or physical presence at the facility for equipment failure or other disasters. This includes, but is not limited to equipment and power failures, loss of contracted services, storms or severe weather, and loss of staff members
  • Participate in an established on-call rotation
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying distances
