Assistant Manager Analytics

The primary responsibilities of this role, Assistant Manager Analytics, are to: 

 

  • Responsible for support around breaking traditional patterns of thought by generating and recognizing imaginative, workable solutions to situations and problems;
  • Assist and sometimes lead in the development of annual national, channel or customer specific trade plans by brand/category, focusing on Bayer brand business goals and customer requirements;
  • Mine all data sources including consumer/shopper insights and syndicated data to provide insights, recommendations, and decisions that help in the development of the four sales controllables:
    • Promotional
    • Pricing
    • Distribution  
    • Shelving
  • Collaborate with Field Sales and the Internal Bayer Organization to assist the Customer Selling Owner and proactively contribute in the following areas:
    • 4 P’s (promotional, placement, product/ assortment, pricing)
    • Timing
    • Trade activation needs  
    • Customer response
    • Competitive Intelligence
  • Conduct competitive analysis and category/brand reviews to identify distribution, pricing, and promotional gaps and provide actionable account recommendations based on findings;
  • Provide input and recommendations on opportunities to improve profit and gross sales volume based on analysis of base and promotional pricing, promotional events, spending, forecasting, sell-through and volume;
  • Assist and sometimes lead in the development of new item selling presentations for Customer Selling team:
    • Launch distribution goals
    • Promotional strategies and tactics
    • Shelving objectives
    • Shopper strategies and tactics 
    • Pricing objectives
  • Provide analysis and recommendations on key distribution, pricing and placement opportunities that can grow the business;
  • Review sales performance, insights data, key initiatives, and new item launches with the customer to ensure robust plans are in place and being executed;
  • Provide key learnings to the customer and tracks results against the annual joint business plan;
  • Should be aware and may get strategically involved with Category Management initiatives;
  • Perform ad hoc analysis both independently or "as requested" for the customer and Bayer selling team;
  • Develop and maintain weekly POS/Shipment reports to inform and track business trends on achieving annual, quarterly, and monthly sales goals;
  • Develop and maintain performance tracking reports for the brand/category, new items, key initiatives, and competition;
  • Where appropriate, forge a direct relationship with retailer contacts by providing relevant reports, insights, business status updates as part of their analytical output;
  • Provide mentorship to the junior analysts on the team to ensure strong skill development.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Completed Bachelors of Business Administration or equivalent studies in economics/management helpful with a minimum of three years of relevant analytical/business experience ideally within consumer package goods industry or equivalent combination of education and/or experience;
  • Incumbent should have very strong skills around sales data analysis and reporting; capable of producing, analyzing and interpreting various reports and syndicated data; should include strong understanding of the various analytical resources (such as syndicated data, customer movement, sales tracking reports, etc.);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that allow for clear and concise presentations;
  • Adaptability to a diverse working environment with the ability to work successfully with teams across the organization while being self-motivated;
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail; results oriented, customer-focused and must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively;
  • Strong problem solving skills;
  • Advanced computer literacy skill required, specifically MS Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in the application of marketing research information (IRI, Nielsen, and Custom) as related to four sales controllables is a plus.
