Who we’re looking for

Toyota is looking for smart, passionate people who have a strong sense of ownership and strong engineering mindset. As a member of Platform and Strategy team in Advanced Technologies and Data Vertical, you will work alongside with Solution Architects within different TMNA verticals to bring in Emerging technologies and principles (e.g. IOE) into their mix to help disrupt the status quo. This position requires deep customer focused thinking, the ability to be hands on, and to make decisions fast. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy for bringing in new technology platforms, tools, and languages/frameworks. We are looking at self-motivated individuals who are highly detail oriented and take pride in their deliverables.

What you’ll be doing

  • Partner with Vertical Solution architects to help unlock the assets and infrastructure we already possess to stay ahead of potential competitors and market disruption

  • Provide ideas on improving technology platform to support the culture of innovation and increase the speed to market

  • Experiment with new techniques, tools, platforms and languages/frameworks testing new ideas for potential rollout into the enterprise

  • Maintain and Analyze technology architecture building blocks and potential impact of Emerging Technologies

  • Partner with Innovation and Business Architecture team to bring Emerging platforms to mainstream business

  • Champion Inner Source and Open Source culture in the organization

What you bring
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Technical or related discipline, or equivalent professional work experience

  • Solid understanding of Open Source Licensing

  • Ability to comprehend and adopt new technologies quickly

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create and present concepts and recommendations to management

  • Hands on experience in the following:

    • Cloud native architecture principles

    • API design and security practices

    • Modern architecture techniques (e.g. event driven architectures, stream processing, event sourcing/CQRS, Event storming)

    • Containerization and PaaS approaches and tools (e.g., CloudFoundry, Kubernetes, Docker Enterprise, Azure Stack)

Added bonus if you have

  • Experience with hardware hacking/prototyping.

  • Experience building distributed applications on the Public Cloud (AWS/Azure)

  • Experience in developing IoT reference architectures and IoT platforms / application
