We are currently seeking a Analyst, Investment Planning for the Technology Finance department. This position will work within the Technology Finance organization to support and deliver the long-term financial plan for WB’s Technology organization and contribute to its capital planning activities. The position will be responsible for accurately representing and forecasting the current business and future strategic initiatives contemplated by WB’s senior executive team. In addition, the position will support capital planning analysis, including budgeting, for technology capital recommendations, and ongoing performance tracking of Technology investments. In some cases, the Analyst will be responsible for general analytic and strategic support for technology-specific projects originated both within the Technology group and from other parts of the organization. Specifically, the responsibilities will include:
  • Maintain and enhance Technology Capital Annual Budgets and Monthly Capital Forecast Financial Models:
    • Track Technology Capital monthly actual spend and deviation from forecast.
    • Identify and research capital spend deviations and risk to the budget and engage Technology/Finance organization to correct and mitigate spend anomalies.
    • Collaborate with Investment Planning team to develop coherent strategies to achieve plan goals and accurately forecast current initiatives.
    • Identify and assess potential risks/ risk levels and support management’s focus on major areas of concern/risk.
    • Conduct sensitivity analyses and test value-driver model assumptions.
  • Support Technology capital planning function, including incorporating spend targets and aligning recommendations to the technology and strategic needs of the organization:
    • Model business implications, including pro-forma cash flow analyses, discounted cash flow (DCF), breakeven analyses, expected returns, net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR), and payback.
    • Support Technology Investment Council processes, including decision making and capital allocation analysis.
    • Work with Executive Director, Strategic Planning and Manager of Investment Planning to analyze spend, highlight trade-offs, and understand technology investment requirements.
    • Provide ongoing analysis of investment processes.
    • Support budget and forecasting for Technology Capital projects.
  • Support Technology organization across a range of ongoing and ad hoc analyses:
    • Build business cases to evaluate business process changes, etc.
    • Evaluate new and/or emergent trends in technology landscape.
    • Identify revenue enhancement and cost savings opportunities.
    • Analyze current and future capital and OpEx spend by division or project.
    • Support preparation of senior management materials.
  • Liaise with internal (e.g. Technology, Finance, Legal, Tax, Procurement, Time Warner) and external business partners (e.g. consultants, suppliers, etc.) to support analyses.
What do we require from you?
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area (e.g. Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting).
  • 1-2 years experience in consulting, finance, or project management.
  • Experience creating financial forecasts, total cost of ownership analyses, and capital forecasting and analysis.
  • Experience analyzing business operations and targeting areas to improve financial performance (based on return on investment (ROI), CAGR, payback, internal rate of return (IRR), pretax and after tax earnings, targeted profit margins, FCF, present value, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
