Workforce Development and Continuing Education Specialist

 

STARTING DATE:  February, 2018

 

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum of an Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution is required.  A minimum of five years of administrative assistant or clerical work experience is required.  Experience managing projects is required.  Experience using the current version of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Ability to effectively communicate, multi-task, meet schedules, accommodate change, and safeguard confidential information is required.

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Previous experience developing and delivering customized classes for business and industry and/or special interest classes is preferred.

 

 

 

DUTIES:  The Workforce Development and Continuing Education Specialist is responsible for assisting the Associate Dean of Adult Education, Workforce Development, and Continuing Education in ensuring that quality business and industry training and continuing education courses are provided to the college’s service area through the development and delivery of customized courses, short term skills training, career pathway, and special interest courses.

 

 

 

SALARY:  Commensurate with experience and education and will be compensated on Salary Schedule E3, Rank 05 of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees salary schedules.

A completed application packet consists of:

 

  A letter of application.

 

  A current résumé.

 

  A completed official College employment application.

 

  Two letters of reference.

 

  Copies of all relevant postsecondary transcripts.  Transcript copies must show the identification of the institution, the identification of the applicant, and verify that the applicant has received the minimum degree requirements as stated in the “Required Qualifications” section.  The person chosen to fill the position is required to furnish official transcripts prior to the completion of the first semester of employment.

 

 

 

In addition, prior to receiving an offer of employment applicants are required to submit letters of verification from previous or current employers verifying the work experience stated in the “Required Qualifications” section.  The letters of verification must include the applicant’s beginning and ending dates of employment, employment title, and indicate if the employment was full or part time.
