WIM Credit Risk Analytics Consultant 3

Within Corporate Risk, Corporate Credit is responsible for independently overseeing the management of credit risk exposures (including monitoring and reporting on aggregate credit exposures across groups, legal entities, geographies, and jurisdictions) and the quality of credit risk management practices across the company.  This oversight extends to all phases of a loan’s life cycle, including origination, underwriting, risk analysis, approval, documentation, boarding, monitoring, loss recognition, modification, and collection activities.

This position is located within Corporate Credit on a team that provides credit risk related data infrastructure, analytics, insights, management reporting, and regulatory reporting in support of the Wealth and Investment Management (WIM) loan portfolio.  WIM is one of the company’s four main divisions.  WIM businesses build enduring client relationships through sound, thoughtful and objective advice.  WIM services include comprehensive planning and advice, investment management, brokerage, private banking, credit, estate planning strategies, trust, insurance and both individual and institutional retirement.  The WIM loan portfolio is comprised of both Commercial and Consumer based products with varying purpose, complexity, collateral, and risk characteristics. 

The WIM Credit Risk Reporting and Analytics Team reports up to the WIM Chief Credit Officer and provides credit portfolio data, analytics, and insights to a broad audience including WIM businesses and leaders, Corporate Credit, Finance partners, Auditors, and Regulators. 

The Credit Risk Analytics Consultant 3 position will be on the WIM Credit Loss Forecasting and Basel team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Running complex QTMs and EUCTs that extract data and/or manipulate databases for performing complex portfolio analysis
  • Develop, test and implement Basel and loss forecasting code, processes and models
  • Develop and maintain a set of standard reports/metrics for Basel and Loss Forecasting performance monitoring and results analysis
  • Develop and/or maintain documentation of processes to meet the G&O framework requirements
  • Identify and implement improvements that optimize and streamline submission processes
  • Overtime and weekend work to support periodic submissions and other initiatives

Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk areas, including credit risk, operational risk, market risk, reputation risk, and compliance risk. Corporate Risk strives to ensure that all Wells Fargo corporate functions and lines of business soundly manage risk, comply with applicable laws and regulations, and offer products and services that meet the needs of our customers. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The desired location for this position is Charlotte, NC or San Francisco, CA.  The WIM Credit Loss Forecasting and Basel group is also willing to hire a strong candidate in the additional locations listed above.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of risk reporting experience, risk analytics experience, or a combination of both

Desired Qualifications

  • A Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline
  • 2+ years of sales management experience
  • 3+ years of financial services experience
  • SAS programming experience in model implementation, reporting, and complex data manipulations
  • Ability to assess current processes/procedures and make recommendations for efficiency
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of statistical analysis

Other Desired Qualifications

•    Model development experience
•    1+ years of Basel experience
•    Experience accessing data on multiple platforms
•    Exposure to model risk management, policy, and governance
