As a Weed Control Research Scientist, you will be working with a team of experts in the field and will be responsible for the discovery and development of the next generation weed control technologies. You will incorporate physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology to understand weed resistance mechanisms of action and apply it to the development of durable novel herbicides. In addition, you will be expected to analyze, interpret, and summarize results to inform strategic decisions. You will also have strong interactions with the academic weed/crop science communities and end users to develop simple and sustainable weed control systems.

About us – we are focused on developing the next generation of weed control products for farmers. Our team’s mission is to support the discovery and early development of sustainable weed management solutions through extensive testing in controlled environment and stewardship of our products.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop, validate and implement new screens to identify novel herbicide actives.
• Define scientific approach to problems, develop hypotheses, and test them to lead projects to logical conclusions in the herbicide systems space.
• Work closely with formulation chemists, biochemists, molecular biologists, plant physiologists, field biologists, technology development managers, and portfolio leads to assess technical features of new weed control technologies in comparison to conventional weed control options.
• Design, conduct, and coordinate greenhouse and growth chamber experiments to assess and characterize new herbicide active ingredients, novel herbicide formulations, and new herbicide tolerant traits in soybean, corn, cotton, and canola, while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Analyze, interpret, summarize, and report the results and develop recommendations to the team and project leads.
• Evaluate weed resistance mechanisms and their impact on herbicide development.
• Evaluate new weed control product concepts, and determine and optimize product opportunities in global markets.
