Vice President Oncology Marketing

The primary responsibilities of this role, VP Oncology Marketing, are to: 

 

  • Lead the development and execution of the US business plan for the Oncology solid tumor franchise and is responsible to provide full commercial leadership of strategy and implementation of the US brand plan for the entire franchise (Xofigo, Stivarga & Nexavar, new products). This role is responsible to lead the US cross functional team in creating and executing the US plan that achieves volume and revenue
    targets and overall business objectives.
    • Work with sales to deliver budget goals;
    • Grow the US Oncology portfolio over the next 10 years;
    • Provide commercial input into strategic plans and portfolio review;
    • Manage marketing budget;
  • Ensure the development and implementation of the US brand strategy for the Oncology Portfolio which includes: driving annual brand plan, development of 3 year operational brand plan, and driving alignment as needed with Global brand teams;
  • Direct, plan and formulate market development and product promotion plans, medical education plans, budgets, programs and objectives for Xofigo, Stivarga, Nexavar and pipeline;
  • Prepare sales forecasts in accurately estimating product requirements and inventory control;
  • Drive Xofigo, Stivarga, Nexavar and pipeline market research efforts and manage forecasting production and logistics issues;
  • Define performance metrics;
  • Develop and manage relationships with National KOL's (key opinion leaders) and associated advocacy partners;
  • Be accountable for US Xofigo, Stivarga, Nexavar and pipeline P+L's, including brand forecasts, marketing budget allocation and budget monitoring;
  • Lead cross functional teams required to achieve key brand initiatives; Define and clarify initiatives, set objectives, and manage the team, timelines and resources needed;
  • Work closely with Oncology Global head(s) to support the development of global strategy, goals and objectives for the oncology products and ensure long term franchise value is achieved;
  • Assist in leveraging US developed commercial strategies and plans throughout the world to help optimize the total franchise value for Bayer;
  • Attract, develop and retain a motivated, competent marketing staff and prepares staff to meet the current and future needs of the business.
    • Remain thoughtful in determining staff assignments, with an eye toward what individuals can learn from one another in the process;
    • Seek out opportunities to expose staff to the thinking and strategy development occurring at higher levels in the organization, so that they have a broader context within which to operate;
    • Focus specific reward and recognition efforts on retaining high potential, top talent within the market.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree required;
  • 12+ years pharmaceutical experience;
  • Experience in Oncology Marketing;
  • Experience building and developing a high performing organization;
  • Strong change management leadership experience;
  • Strong business acumen with a demonstrated ability for complex problem solving;
  • Ability to make good decisions under stressful timeframes;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work and contribute across functions and cultures in cross-functional teams;
  • Demonstrated analytical skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

     

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • MBA;
  • 5+ years people leadership experience;
  • Successful product launch experience.
