Description About the Position: The Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for setting the cadence and tone for financial planning and strategy to make short and long-term finance decisions. Owns the Plan to Perform process. Uses knowledge of finance and energy processes to evaluate and manage performance and develop the 10-year business plan to drive performance. Accountable for leading the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets with finance and business insights. Accountable for merger and acquisitions financial planning activities to support company revenue and growth models. This role reports to the National Grid Ventures (NGV) CFO Development. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Plan to Perform: Owns the Plan to Perform process; engages stakeholders across finance to implement and ensure adherence to process. Responsible for consolidation of performance reporting of the global P&Ls. Manages and monitors the consolidation of investments for NGV Finance. Sets the cadence for driving Plan to Perform strategies and delivery of operating expenses, revenue, net margin and forecasts through finance partners; maintains a transparent relationship with NGV and NGV Corporate Development functions. Owns the capital investment lifecycle, responsible for consolidating investments across NGV entities. Accountable for developing 10-year business plan, and annual operating and capital budget, by working with stakeholders on assumptions and performing financial modelling. Accountable for developing monthly forecasts, budgets and KPIs to increase company profitability, maximize profits and achieve growth in the U.S. Accountable for preparing management reporting and presenting / validating financial results as required. Provides analysis of financial planning and performance reporting to evaluate NGV’s needs. Actively partners across the finance functions to communicate and inform NGV and NGV Corporate Development Functions. Drives the implementation of the Plan to Perform business plans. Accountable for ensuring teams adhere and support financial and non-financial controls. Long-Term Planning: Maintains awareness of industry changes and understands current Finance issues. Reviews and challenges plans from the NGV Global P&L’s and required to have understanding of each. Incorporates financial analysis of market growth rate, policy trends, competitive dynamics, retail and wholesale pricing. Maintains technical knowledge of internal and external global standards as it relates to mergers and acquisitions. Maintains relationship with Business Development and Deal Teams to lead merger and acquisition financial responsibilities for the NGV growth strategy. Develops and implements changes necessary for succession and retention of employees. Includes direct reports in planning, analysis and decision-making process to develop employees’ skills and encourage employee growth. Directs and counsels employees and manages third-party consultants and contractors. Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Managing complex relationships across a multi-cultural environment with foreign ownership Reporting Financial Information Financial and investment appraisal Business software and applications Budgeting, accurate forecasting and KPIs Company operating and business plans Analysis of market structure Long-term financial performance through business development Mergers and acquisitions financial analysis and execution Project management Employee development Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred, with a minimum of 15 years in finance leadership and business development roles including leading multi-unit structures with remote ownership Experience in translating financial information from Business Unit’s and Corporate Development to Finance and other professionals Knowledge of global NGV finance structures, financial systems and business development Strategic and technical knowledge of UK companies operating in the U.S. Strong leadership, effective planning and execution skills Extensive experience determining new market exploration, viability of mergers and acquisitions, and developing implementation strategies Extensive experience in finance, analytics and project management High standards of data accuracy, commitment and integrity Excellent written and oral communication skills Proven track record of effectively building, developing and managing a team National Grid is an equal opportunity employer that values a broad diversity of talent, knowledge, experience and expertise.
