Technology Manager (1700155) You are the first point of contact for plant, asset and process management. You provide technical leadership for dedicated manufacturing technologies to the corresponding production plants (e.g., process innovation, optimization, capex scoping). Act as global focal point for automation and manufacturing operation management (MOM) technologies and technology contact for specific production sites in the catalyst division.
Take a lead in automation topics in capital projects including development of automation, safety, operations, and IT concepts; leads execution of acceptance testing and startup support.
Facilitator of best practice sharing to the catalyst sites
Lead development of global concepts for process safety and occupational health and implements together with operations, in collaboration with other safety groups; support Clean Sheets Safety Reviews and responsible care processes audits; lead safety concept development for multi-site unit operations.
Lead development/optimization of technical concepts and support capex projects within the business.
Serve as expert and consultant for site decision, production footprint optimizations and transfer projects.
Analyze and make recommendations on Intellectual properties of our processes; evaluate the options for the introduction of new products and technologies into production; maintain database of trade secrets.
Lead the development and implementation of automation technology and asset strategies.
Maintain constant problem identification dialogue with manufacturing sites and defining solutions in CCE and Catalyst sites; initiate and conduct technology exchange workshops with production sites and BASF technology centers of excellence.
Support troubleshooting, engineering, and optimization activities in catalysts sites; often leading those activities with global impact.
Support production by leading improvement or capital projects, especially those with global significance.
Constantly promote a culture of working together, free sharing of best practices, and continuous innovation.
Own one or more automation topic (e.g., Batch systems, material handling, bar coding, robotics, SIS, ex-topics)

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
Bachelors in Science or a technical field required, computer science, electrical engineering or physics preferred
8 years’ technical experience required, including 2 years direct manufacturing operations management (such as PLC or DCS)/automation/IT experience preferred
Understanding systems architecture and optimization of interfaces and must be up to date on technological trends
Strong communication skills, written and verbal and critical thinking skills to be able to analyze problems and communicate accordingly
Able and willing to travel about 25% domestically and internationally (primarily internationally)
Ability to work well within a team environment and the demonstrated ability to influence others
Must have proven experience implementing automation in manufacturing
