We are seeking a Systems Engineer for our global High Performance Computing (HPC) team which supports and extends BASF high performance and supercomputing capabilities. In joint project teams with BASF Research & Development community we maximize the value of state-of-the art High Performance Computing.   • Research and recommend innovative productions, services and solutions for both existing and emerging needs to provide a mission critical 24x7 HPC cluster.
  • Develop testing tools and monitoring to ensure proper HPC grid operation,
  • Improve system administration and implementing processes for HPC environments.
  • Improve system installation, configuration and disposal procedures, contribute to and maintain system standards, create and maintain documentation.
  • Additional experience in high-performance systems is a plus such as 100 Gbps networking, kernel stack bypass technologies, scheduler and other kernel optimizations as well as strong understanding of networking concepts (IPaddressing, DHCP and DNS, NTP, multicast routing, 802.1q VLAN tagging) and diagnostic tools (tcpdump/ethtool).

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
  • BA degree is required; a degree in computer science, natural science with additional strong background in information technology preferred; Master's Degree or higher degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in operating and/or applying High Performance Computing (HPC) including configuration and maintenance of batch systems and/or distributed file systems.
  • Experience in high-performance systems is a plus such as 100 Gbps networking, kernel stack bypass technologies, scheduler and other kernel optimizations as well.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, DHCP and DNS, NTP, multicast routing, 802.1q VLAN tagging) and diagnostic tools (tcpdump/ethtool).
  • Team player an able to work in a fast pace environment; work well with others; communication in German a plus
