Where the Chemistry Happens… Supplier Relationship Manager - Florham Park, NJ (1701574) We are seeking a Supplier Relationship Manager. This position leads continuous improvement of existing processes and drives BASF Transportation’s vendor strategy, and to ensure that BASF is first in the chemical industry to implement innovative initiatives
  • Manage Supplier Relationships with all NA Transportation Management service providers (Command Center, Freight Payment, and Rail Fleet Management)
  • Define, monitor, analyze, and rate service provider (LLP/3PL) performance against target KPI's and SLA's
  • Analyze and provide opportunities for improvement, optimization, and effective management of LLP/3PL, including structural improvements with business units/service provider
  • Manages Service Portfolio and development of new services for Command Center, Freight Payment and Rail Fleet Management
  • Serve as single point of contact for JTA (Joint target agreement), between TM and BU’s
  • Steer and develop LLP(s)/3PL(s) and maximize their value through close relationship and intensive collaboration in the areas of Transportation Management, Freight Payment, and Rail Fleet Management
  • Aligns BASF’s strategy with LLP direction and management.
Formula for Success: You Will…
  • Manage Supplier Relationship and Development (LLP/3PLs)
    • Conduct supplier management evaluations and contribute to the review of the overall supplier development, operating model and strategy; identification and recommendation of strategic opportunities (operational and commercial) as input for key strategic supplier plans
  • Manage continuous improvement of overall transportation management, through strong collaboration with vendors and BASF Business Units
    • Derive opportunities for improvement and optimization based on the evaluation of performance and service level agreements
  • Provide input and support LLP services cost management, and act as the interface to the Controlling business unit
  • Represent the partnership and the projects conducted by collaborations with other BASF internal organizations and functions

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, with a concentration in Supply Chain, Business Management or Procurement preferred; Master’s Degree a plus
  • Minimum 8 years of supply chain and/or Procurement experience with an understanding of the order-to-delivery process.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Project Management experience in a large multi- faceted environment
  • Contract/KPI/SLA management knowledge is preferred
  • Experience working in a service environment is preferred.
  • SAP R3 preferred; Lean Six Sigma (green belt) a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous project implementation, as well as experience in a global company, is a plus
