Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Relationship Lead

Monsanto Global Supply Chain Procurement is looking for a motivated and career driven Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Relationship Lead to lead our innovative global strategic sourcing and supplier performance management initiatives in all regions (North America, South America, EMEA and APAC) focused on delivering higher quality, lower cost products and services. This position will report directly to the Global Procurement Strategic Sourcing Lead and will be located in St. Louis, MO (Creve Coeur). The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams (including Procurement Category Managers, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts) to leverage best-in-class and world-class purchasing processes to drive value to Monsanto. The position will establish cost savings strategies and will assist with sourcing wave negotiations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Global Procurement organization to develop a world class Supplier Performance Management program aimed at reducing the total cost of ownership of direct and indirect materials which will include the identification, qualification, implementation, and continuous improvement of Monsanto's suppliers. The individual selected will play a key role in enabling the cultural change within the procurement organization. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead cross-functional teams through the strategic sourcing process to lower total cost of ownership and improve supplier quality for spend categories across throughout Monsanto
  • Lead a direct team of skilled procurement professionals charged with delivering SRM and strategic sourcing (NOVO) results.
  • Ensure sourcing category strategies encompass both price and non-price savings levers
  • Create, communicate, and implement Monsanto's supplier performance vision, strategies, practices, and procedures across all business units
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Supplier and Commodity Qualification process
  • Responsible for commodity improvements aimed at reducing the total cost of ownership, reducing risk and introducing supplier lead innovation across direct and indirect materials and services
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of key performance indicators (KPIs); service level agreements (SLAs); specifications and measurement systems, including supplier scorecards focusing on cost, quality, delivery, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement
  • Develop and implement Monsanto's supplier integration process for new suppliers
  • Lead the organization and suppliers towards the objective of highest value / lowest cost of ownership supply chains employing appropriate continuous improvement tools including Six Sigma
  • Work with Category and Operations Teams to develop and implement supplier performance strategies to achieve stated goals and objectives
  • Work closely with Strategic Sourcing Team Lead to identify future sourcing opportunities both regionally and globally
  • Work with strategic sourcing leadership in partnering with key stakeholders to ensure purchasing is actively engaged in core business processes
  • Develop negotiation strategies and support negotiations to achieve stated goals and objectives
  • Collaborate effectively across organizational levels, functions, businesses, and geographies to realize procurement goals and objectives
  • Develop creative approaches and frameworks for the issues, and develop appropriate issue/work plans

Required Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • Successful 10+ year track record in a Global Procurement organization or equivalent manufacturing and/or quality process experience
  • Experience in managing teams and can demonstrate an ability to lead, support, and develop direct reports in both career and business goals
  • Experience in people leadership focused on developing and coaching teams
  • Experienced in working within a matrixed organization with proven ability to utilize collaboration and partnerships to garner trust and achieve results
  • Adept in partnering; supplier quality; continuous improvement; cross-functional teaming; influencing and building consensus at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work effectively across global and business matrixes
  • Accomplished in change leadership
