Position Summary This position will be a senior member of the Charter Communications Commercial Engineering – Commercial Network Operations team. This team is responsible for production and operations, of the Charter Communications Commercial Business Services.
Charter Communications Cable utilizes ADB ADSG Set Back Boxes, ATX video converters (Digiview, Digistream, UCrypt, and DVISn), Cisco ISR series routers (fixed port and modular), Cisco ASR1K, Cisco ASA series security devices, Cisco catalyst series switches, Cisco Wireless controllers (5508 and 8510), Cisco Digital Content Managers (DCM9901 and 9902), Juniper switches, Juniper MX series routers, Juniper security devices (SSG, Netscreen, and SRX), Meraki (routers, switches, and wireless access points), Nomadix Hospitality gateways (AG2400 and AG5800), RGNets rX9 Hospitality gateways, Ruckus wireless controllers (ZoneDirector and SCG200), Vecima video converters (TC600 and TC600e).
Essential Job Functions: This position is responsible for operational readiness testing, product launch, and the day to day network operations nationwide for Managed Services customers. Responsibilities include:
Advanced troubleshooting of all routing, switching, security, voice, video, and wireless services.
Troubleshooting and response to network incidents and problems including afterhours support via on call rotation.
Working with our internal customers to relay complex Operational needs to be used in creating highly reliable and scalable premise based services.
Advanced interpretation of Network alarming and impact analysis
Implement and troubleshoot authentication servers
Troubleshoot network communication problems as they relate to routing, switching, security, voice, video, and wireless services.
Correlate detected network events to identify potential problems or root causes
Assist application and system owners in troubleshooting problematic network dependent applications
Serve as a tier 3 functional escalation point for tier 2 staff members
Serve as a functional escalation point for Network Engineers
Participate in projects that involve existing network infrastructure as required
Participate in an established on call rotation
Participate in a formal incident rapid response process for high priority incidents
Collaborate with the team to insure that an incident's underlying problems are managed and resolved
Implement network change in the context of incident resolution, problem management and service requests
Be aware of and follow existing network management change procedures
Provide training to Tier2 staff members
Work outside of normal business hours when required (scheduled maintenance, outage response, last minute urgent requests)
Assist with network documentation tasks
Work with Product, Product integration, and border partners during phased and new product operational readiness testing, workflow processes, and launches.
7-10 years of progressive experience in Telecommmunications
7-10years in enterprise network design, implementation, and operations
7-10 years in Routing and switching
At least one of the following is required: CCNP, JNCIP
Expert level network documentation skills including master skills with MS Visio
Strong oral and written skills
Strong leadership skills
Expert level of familiarity in implementing and troubleshooting dynamic routing protocols: RIPv2 and RIPng, OSPF, BGP, and MPLS
Expert level of familiarity with IPv4 and IPv6
Unix and Linux system administration familiarity
Professional level understanding of TCP and UDP including the ability to identify root cause of illusive problems through packet capture analysis.
Professional level understanding of TCP and UDP including the ability to provide insightful analysis based on packet captures.
Expert understanding of popular network communications protocols such as DHCP (with sub-options), DNS, RPC, HTTP, SNMP, and ICMP
Expert understanding of Ethernet and the surrounding technology such as Spanning Tree Protocol (IEEE 802.1w and 802.1d), Trunking (IEEE 802.1q)
Understanding of MPLS networks and Layer3 VPNs (RFC 2574bis)

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
