Imagine your next position as a Senior Specialist, Talent Analytics for a Fortune 200 Company to help drive Altria's Talent Analytics strategy, which focuses on how data-driven talent insights can improve our business success. Talent Analytics is an investment area for Altria. We have made significant progress in Talent Analytics over the last few years and are looking to accelerate that progress even more with the addition of another business-oriented, motivated analytics expert. Altria Client Services' role is to provide high quality services to the Altria family of companies. We are currently seeking a highly qualified Senior Specialist, Talent Analytics to join HR Talent Development team in Richmond, VA. This role will work closely with business leaders and other parts of Human Resources to interrogate, test, analyze, and report human capital insights. We seek a candidate who possesses not only the technical expertise, but also the critical thinking, communication, and influencing skills to integrate Talent Analytics into the fabric of business strategy. Specific accountabilities may include:
  • Move the organization significantly forward when it comes to using insights derived from demonstrative, prescriptive, and predictive data analytics to make talent-related decisions
  • In collaboration with HR business partners and business leaders, plan for and generate data-driven employee insights connected to Altria's business strategies and initiatives
  • Analyze data for key trends and insights and prepare well-written, concise, action-oriented executive summaries
  • Translate business issues and needs into analytics-based experiments and data requests
  • Proactively suggest applicable experiments, measures, or calculations to address talent opportunities

  • Help design and execute an overall employee survey approach that aligns with Altria's business strategies and initiatives, including measurement of employee engagement and cultural priorities such as diversity and inclusion
  • Conduct appropriate external research (including literature review), benchmarking, and summarize findings to inform our talent analytics strategy, measurement approach, and methodology
  • Leverage expertise and technology to streamline and simplify employee data and reporting systems

    /qualifications include:
  • MS/MA or PhD Degree in a quantitative social science field. Background in Statistics, Quantitative Psychology, Econometrics, Market Research, or similar field
  • At least three years of meaningful experience working in the field of HR analytics or talent insights (not HR reporting or metrics), preferably directly supporting HR business partners or business leaders
  • Working knowledge of statistics (particularly behavioral research design and measurement) and the ability to conduct basic analysis (t-tests, multiple regression, etc.) and advance analysis (Hierarchical Linear Modeling, Structural Equation Modeling, propensity score matching etc.)
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, working knowledge of SQL, intermediate to advanced proficiency in SPSS (particularly syntax), basic to intermediate in R, and basic proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Strong consulting, communication, and presentation skills, with ability to work collaboratively with other parts of Human Resources and business leaders; this includes ample capability with respect to effective visual communication of data and accompanying insights
  • Highly motivated when it comes to intellectual curiosity and desire to learn about the businesses you're supporting (business acumen), and learn new tools and analytical techniques
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with and protect highly sensitive employee data in a confidential manner Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar HRIS system as well as Kenexa Brass Ring or similar applicant tracking system
  • Experience in Bayesian data analysis
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms
  • Experience with designing compelling data visualizations (e.g. using D3.js)
