Restoration Manager, Contractor Oversight

Description About the Position: The role holder is responsible for the oversight of all restoration activities associated with construction related activities ensuring that safety, reliability, and integrity of the National Grid gas system, our customers, and the public. The position has responsibilities to effectively manage both Supervisors and represented employees focused on inspection and analysis of final restoration activities performed by sub-contractors. Innovation, compliance and cost focused solutions to drive performance and improve quality and esthetics is essential. Provide emergency response assistance as requested and supervision of personnel engaged in a 24 hour, 7 day per week operation. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): The Contractor Oversight, Restoration Manager is responsible to ensure that all final restoration performed by National Grid contractors is performed in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. Review and coordinate projects. Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are complete, permits are obtained, making all proper notifications and coordinate with Community / Government Relations for proper customer notifications. Manage and monitor the Restoration Process. Develop and execute low cost options that maintain the integrity and longevity of the companies final restoration product while meeting the needs of municipal agencies Meet with government, elected officials and customers as required, resolve and address all concerns and complaints. Oversee the operational workload of the team to ensure allocated resources are fully utilized in order to deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned units and budgeted costs. Ensure supervised teams comply with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff, public and customers Execute work tasks in compliance with all Company, Federal, State, City and municipal policies and regulatory requirements. Build good working relationships with internal & external customers inclusive of elected and municipal leaders and effectively manage the day-to-day relationship with them in order to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes. Monitor performance of Restoration Contractors and internal staff for quality, compliance and productivity. Act as the first point of contact for multiple internal stakeholders and outside agencies in order to provide support and ensure National Grid deliver against service level agreement. Promote and implement best practices in order to ensure all work tasks achieve high productivity and low costs. Qualifications Knowledge and Experience Required: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil preferred) area and/or 3-5 years’ of related experience, or committed to ‘on the job’ training programs with practical experience of methods, processes and techniques relevant to area or discipline. Technically proficient within subject matter and experience of leading a team involved in field operations activities is preferred. Must have, or possess the ability to develop a working knowledge of information systems critical to the work management, financial reporting and performance tracking of the designated area. Must have or possess the ability to develop knowledge and understanding of National Grid’s policies and processes and how to apply them effectively. Must have demonstrated or possess the skills to build effective, respectful, working relationships. Ability to perform off-hour coverage and provide sound decision-making during emergency situations.
