Resource Manager

The primary responsibilities of this role, Resource Manager, are to:


  • Support planning of clinical development programs: In collaboration with clinical teams and functions, develop and provide models and scenarios for high-level resource estimates (Full Time Employees) for all roles contributing to clinical development and external cost;
  • Collaborate in the development of resourcing strategies in clinical development;
    • Support planning of capacity within the functional area, used as the basis for deciding how to resource studies using outsourced, in-sourced, and internal resources;
    • Provide portfolio, TA and function level resource requirement summary reports to function heads and senior management in, P&O and TAs to support resource planning;
  • Lead creation and maintenance of user-friendly processes and systems for clinical trial management and resource management;
    • Drive development, implementation and maintenance of a robust resource estimation and reporting tool containing resource estimations for all Clinical functions for entire portfolio lifecycle
    • Contribute to development, maintenance, and enhancement of efficient and effective processes, tools, and standard templates for estimation of external cost for clinical trials, external clinical grants and CRO Management Fees;
    • Ensure “user-friendly” access to transparent and accurate resource information and status/risk/issue reporting of on-going and upcoming clinical studies and projects at portfolio and TA levels
  • Enable accurate reporting of clinical development status, resource and cost information;
    • Contribute to provisioning of capacity and cost information at portfolio, cross-TA and cross-functional level (e.g. for senior clinical development management);
    • Collaborate with partners to develop aligned structures and processes for reporting resource management information across the organization;
    • Generate overview reports, forecasting future capacity limits (internal and external) and identifying potential bottlenecks;
  • Lead on-going enhancement in clinical program and  resource management;
    • Drive development, periodic review and refinement of resource estimation algorithms for all functions under Global Clinical Development based on historic company data and industry benchmarks;
    • Develop and organize user training modules, training courses  with  appropriate  user  documentation  with regard to RM;
  • Build and extend expertise in clinical development strategies (e.g. strategies to optimize regional allocation with regard to cost per patient, or other trends in the pharmaceutical industry) to be able provide expert input into clinical development planning.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelors of Science degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, or Masters of Science degree or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience;
  • Project management experience within clinical development;
  • Managing project resources (including budgets);
  • International experience through working in a global organization and/or global project teams;
  • Able to work across and build effective working relationships between functions;
  • Must be able to develop and deliver presentations in English;
  • Knowledge of the drug development process;
  • Have an understanding of global regulations and guidelines;
  • Understanding  of  clinical  trial  methodologies  and  knowledge  of  technologies  (e.g.  data  warehousing, electronic data capture);
  • Ability to effectively influence without hierarchical authority;
  • Willingness to embrace change and be able to work in a changing environment;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
