We have a great opportunity for a Quality Leader to join our team and be responsible for reporting to and partnering with the Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager (QCIM), the Quality Leader (QL) will achieve site goals in the areas of manufacturing technology advancement, productivity and quality improvements, off-spec elimination, non-conformance elimination, customer satisfaction, and cost reduction.

You will be responsible for improving the site quality by participating in the development, implementation, and maintenance of statistics-based data collection and analysis systems for both Quality and Production groups at the Elyria Site.
Formula for Success: You Will…
Participate and lead cross-functional teams providing scientific technical support, root cause analysis, and corrective action resolution and tracking.
Working in teams and individually, will positively affect site Quality by ensuring that raw materials, intermediates, and final products meet established specifications including common inorganic, surface science, and material science parameters.
Ensure all current laboratory and Quality processes occur as designed in a timely manner including an efficient flow of material through the site production processes from original raw material receipt and acceptance to shipment of final product.
Serve as an interface between the Laboratory/Quality group and other site groups including Production and Maintenance in a fashion that helps facilitate teamwork between groups.
Support all site groups in the form of data analysis and consolidation and the tracking and reporting of KPIs.
Oversee the analytical instrumentation maintenance, support, and training.
Oversee the Quality Group’s SAP and LIMS systems and serve on a team of internal ISO Auditors for the site and other associated BASF sites.
Direct and control laboratory staff training.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
Bachelor of Science in chemistry, biology, geology (or a related scientific or engineering field) is required.
Minimum 7 years’ experience working in a quality or laboratory capacity in a manufacturing or commercial laboratory. This experience must include performing traditional laboratory activities and analytical testing. Experience performing inorganic and material science analytical tests is considered a plus.
Experience with and a thorough understanding of third party quality systems and how those systems affect non-conformances and corrective actions is required. Experience with ISO 9001:2008 and Responsible Care (RCMS) protocols is considered a plus.
Comfortable leading and implementing organizational change and finding unique solutions to existing problems and opportunities. Strong communication, analytical problem solving, and organizational skills are required. Experience working on and leading Quality improvement cross-functional teams is required.
Experience using typical office software including lab and analytical reporting software is required.
