Program Coordinator

Job Duties

The mission of the UCLA Center for Behavioral & Addiction Medicine (CBAM) is to advance the prevention and treatment of chronic illnesses, especially in communities with health disparities. Our work focuses primarily on addiction treatment, HIV prevention and the intersection of the two. We have recently taken leadership of a long-standing center grant entitled Center for HIV Identification, Prevention, and Treatment Services (CHIPTS), which is a collaboration of leading scientists from local universities, research and policy institutions. The goals of CHIPTS are to promote novel, high impact and transformational research; to sponsor meetings and provide venues for collaboration among scientists, providers, insurers, policy makers and stakeholders; and to provide mentoring and training.

This incumbent will be responsible for program coordination across multiple core activities within CHIPTS. Specific duties include: working closely with CHIPTS Investigators in the development, implementation and tracking of center activities (e.g. grant submitted, networking activities, trainings, publications, mentorships), providing assistance on the implementation and administration of CHIPTS pilot programs; delivering scientific-related consultation services including proposal development, instrument development, data management, data analysis, data safety monitoring; human subject protection, publication compliance, and intervention design and implementation; developing and executing center-related research and dissemination initiatives; identifying new opportunities for collaboration with local, state, and national key stakeholders including both academic and community partners; translating and disseminating research findings by developing technical reports (e.g. policy briefs, blog posts, community factsheets) and disseminating them through center website, social media, and listservs; preparing scientific presentations and trainings to be given at local, national, and international conferences; serving as a liaison at community meetings and events; identifying relevant funding opportunities; coordinating and assisting in preparing grant applications and journal publications; and participating in various writing assignments including presentations, manuscripts, progress reports, and other technical reports.

Job Qualifications

Required:
-Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills in order to lead and facilitate planning processes involving partners with diverse backgrounds.
-Must have strong familiarity and knowledge of HIV/AIDS and with organizations in Southern California working on identification, prevention and treatment of the disease.
-Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and writing.
-Must be able to manage competing priorities and still meet tight deadlines with high level of accuracy and thoroughness.
-Must be skilled in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
-Must have strong writing skills, including experience with grant proposals, peer-reviewed manuscripts, presentations, and preparing progress/technical reports.
-Must be able to work with confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
-Must have demonstrated skills in managing regulatory, publication compliance, and applying statistical techniques and methods to analyze and interpret data.

Preferred:
-Master's Degree in Public Health or relevant field is strongly preferred.
-Experience with NIH and university related policies.
-Experience with project management and research administration.
-Experience with compiling and managing data from multiple sources.
