Where the Chemistry Happens…We are seeking a Business Segment Manager, Product Regulations, lead a team of Product Regulations Operations (PRO) Specialists as well as acting as the direct liaison with global EHS, Master Data, business and service platform counterparts supporting the Performance Products Operating Divisions. Additionally, this position is expected to coordinate Product Regulation initiatives with the assigned business units. As such, there will be significant involvement with Business Marketing, Product Management, Supply Chain, Operations / Manufacturing plants & Customer Service teams. A major focus of the role is to act as the driver to expand from a regional to global position by working with the European, Asian and Central and South American counterparts to coordinate new global processes as they become available. Business Segment Manager (1701222) – Florham Park, NJ The Business Segment Manager provides day-to-day operational guidance to the PRO Specialists ensuring product compliance to International, Federal, State and local regulations through a North American shared services platform. This is a dynamic position requiring a balance of core systems and process knowledge; chemistry and the related regulatory environment with business partnering to manage the BASF product lines in a cost-effective manner.   • Coach and develop team members to reach their full potential, driving high performance and embracing other supervisory core responsibilities such as creating an inclusive environment and establishing a “customer first” attitude.
  • Partner with each BU within the Performance Products group to understand and assess Product Regulatory needs or issues. Provide coaching and guidance to team members and BU representatives as appropriate.
  • Support strategic business planning through data driven decisions. Identify and analyze potential impacts to BASF products/product lines (either regulatory or product composition changes) and development solutions that support product marketing strategies by mitigate the impact of these changes.
  • Provide direct and indirect support to customers regarding Product Regulatory issues. Partner with business to understand product value chain and support risk assessments and conduct hazard evaluations to address emerging issues that could impact the customer or delivery reliability.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Sciences or other technical discipline. Advanced degree in a technical/science discipline desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in product regulations and/or regulatory affairs and/or product stewardship or related fields in EHS.
  • In-depth knowledge of TSCA, hazard communications standard (OSHA GHS and WHMIS 2015), as well as knowledge of Chemistry, of FIFRA (biocides) and FDA (cosmetics, food, feed, drugs) and working knowledge of other product regulations topics such as DEA, CWC and HTS is desired.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience directly supervising a team of professionals is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills needed to engage with global and regional business contacts; successful candidate must demonstrate ability to work well within a cross-functional, multi-BU, virtual and matrixed business environment.
  • Knowledge of PC systems with solid experience and aptitude in computer systems is required.
  • Strong SAP or equivalent skills preferred, especially experience with EHS module Global Trade Control System and Global Label Management and SDS creation. The ability to efficiently pull data from SAP is a plus; data analysis and use for continuous improvement capabilities important.
