Principal-Inventive Scientist- Reliability Research and Development
The Optimization, Reliability and Customer Analytics (ORCA) department within AT&T Research creates delivers original solutions to some of our Company’s and industry’s most compelling and urgent challenges, ranging from network optimization and reliability, to predictive analytics and modeling, Big Data insights, and agile development and analytics solutions prototyping. We are responsible for optimization as well as prototyping for strategic platform elements in AT&T’s Domain 2.0 architecture that leverages cloud technologies, Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and Software Defined Networking (SDN), to intelligently scale AT&T’s network, enable rapid deployment of advanced cutting-edge features and services, and provide industry leading security, performance and reliability. We are looking to expand our Research and Development staff in the area of reliability engineering. Example tasks include reliability modeling and optimization for advanced services that will be virtualized; reliability improvement recommendations; recommendations to optimize distributed cloud implementations of virtualized services; cloud infrastructure and NFV resource analytics; planning and visualization analytics; NFV services control algorithms; optimization, event detection & control actions for virtualized services.Desired Areas of Expertise:
Candidate must have strong background in mathematical optimization, probability theory and stochastic modeling, performance, reliability, and capacity analysis.
Strong verbal communication along with excellent technical documentation and presentation skills.
Strong collaboration skills.
Ability to create innovative solutions.
Ability to work both independently and as a team member
A Ph.D. in a relevant field from an accredited university or a Master’s of Science degree with 3 or more years of technical experience will also be considered to meet job standards.
Degrees such as Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Distributed Computing, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Statistics from an accredited university.
Applied telecommunications research experience is a plus, including knowledge of IP networking and services.
Knowledge of SDN, NFV, Cloud and Distributed Computing optimization is highly desirable.
Domain knowledge of mobility and IMS is desirable.
