Planner (Assoc/Snr) FERC

Description About the Position : Responsiblefor a wide range of key aspects important to department leadership, complianceand improvement through planning, facilitation, communications, projectmanagement and other task specific activities that impact and contribute to thesuccess of all parts of Transmission Line Services. Work closely andcollaboratively with the Director of the function, department directors, andstakeholders across the business as appropriate to execute tasks and projects. Position Responsibilities (including but not limitedto): • Develop a detailedconstruction plan that involves planned outages, construction phases,construction steps, material, and equipment requirements, lay down areas, andoverall time schedule with final ready for load dates that align with theproject plan. • Review of Projectconstruction drawings and provide details or corrections as they apply fromEngineering design standards and EOP’s. • Translate business objectives intoclearly defined work plans in order to support achievement of TLS/FERC goals • In partnership with project managers,materials management, control centers, project estimators, and resourceplanners, monitor and control allocated human and material resources,maintaining financial and progress forecasting in order to ensure projects aredelivered according to schedule and within budget. Ensureresource availability. • Translate functional policy intoprocesses and procedures that drive greater efficiencies for National Grid andensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental regulatory standards/legislation/governance. Understand collective bargaining agreements that couldimpact work plan delivery. • Challenge existing ways of working andcontinuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greaterefficiencies within assigned area. • Develop work plans that are alignedwith safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure that theexecution of the work plans will promote a safe working environment andminimize risk for all staff. Collaboratewith other groups to ensure system reliability, safety, and efficiency isdemonstrated during large scale projects. • Review health and safety plans for eachspecific project, inclusive of Project Hazard Assessment (PHA) for high hazardwork practices. • Partner with legal and real estategroups for any challenges that are presented in project execution along rightsof ways and company owned property where new or existing facilities could bedeveloped. • Lead business continuity plan processand promote the philosophy of safe team working and development across all activitiesin order to achieve business objectives and continuously improve performance. Contribute as the liaison for TLS to the compliancereporting, risk management, and other official processes as requested. Participate inSafety Leadership Day process, and other activities as requested. Participate in Department Hub, Emergency response andrestoration activities as required. Contribute to conflict resolution with in project teams. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in anengineering or business disciplines with 3 to 5 years in Utility management andplanning or 7 to 10 years equivalentexperience in the electricity construction management environment, withsignificant relevant project management knowledge. Engineering and construction experiencein utility construction and operations. 5+ years’ experience with demonstrated ability to manage /integrate the project related work and ability to provide direction, theappropriate structure and effective resourcing to enable the team to deliverhigh performance. In-depth knowledge and deep operational experience in theutility business and demonstrates deep understanding of the issues impactingthe energy industry sector. • Experiencedeveloping a detailed construction/work plan that involves planned outages,construction phases, construction steps, equipment requirements, etc.…. wherework plans are for projects ranging from $250K to $50 Million. Experience of managing relationships and project teams with TLSemployees, National Grid stakeholders, contractors and members of the public. Displays commitment to safe and productive work environmentthrough consistent actions, beliefs and personal conduct.
