This EIT Operational Risk Consultant role will have accountability for risk management within the aligned EIT business group as First Line of Defense (FLOD).  Our environment continues to be one of heightened standards, raised risk consciousness, and regulatory requirements.  The model through which we deliver risk programs and oversight is changing.  This role is created in alignment with the new comprehensive First Line of Defense risk structure for Enterprise Information Technology.  As the first line of defense, this role provides credible challenge to the EIT group, consistent with the Wells Fargo Vision & Values and risk appetite.

This position will work within the Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) audit coordination, exam coordination and issue management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping EIT leadership informed of audit, exam and issue management related risks through information sharing and reporting.  This individual will ensure a common approach and implementation of an audit, exam and issue management coordination process across EIT.


The successful candidate will provide EIT with coordination and ongoing support for audits and regulatory exams that impact EIT.  This position will interact with Second Line of Defense and Third Line of Defense (WFAS) teams.

Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary point of contact for scheduling, planning and coordinating EIT’s overall involvement within an audit.
  • Provide a coordinated and consistent approach during an audit process while managing deliverables for WFAS internal audit activities.
  • Partner with Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) lines of business and enterprise Risk Management to ensure EIT keeps pace with evolving expectations and requirements as established by the Enterprise and regulators
  • Collaborating with other organizations involved in the audit and exam process to build efficient and effective communications
  • Using tracking and reporting tools to ensure deliverable timelines are met and consistent reporting is produced
  • Addressing difficult issues, anticipating emerging issues and taking action to facilitate a resolution
  • Maintaining an awareness of risk issues and ensuring appropriate escalation and follow-up takes place.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in issues management
  • Proficiency in SHRP
  • 4+ years’ experience within an Enterprise Technology function or Technology Risk function with demonstrated knowledge of technology systems, applications, infrastructure, and emerging technology and associated risks in a business environment
  • Experience in Audit and/or internal control
  • Experience with information technology oversight programs that align to a Technology Business function (i.e. consumer, commercial, infrastructure, capital markets and/or wealth / brokerage etc.)
  • Knowledge of technology and the associated challenges, risks, and required controls inherent in a complex federated environment, including knowledge of SDLC, Architecture, Cloud, Datacenter, Vendor, and third party, BCP, PMO, change Mgmt, problem and incident management, SOX and other regularly (ADA, SWAP Dealer), Access management, asset management, Compliance, IS, audit
  • Knowledge of Technology and Security risk framework – COBIT, FFIEC, NIST, ITIL, COSO, BASEL, and OCC Heightened Standards
  • Track record of providing constructive challenge with appropriate issue escalation and offering solutions
  • Knowledge and understanding of strategic elements of financial, operational, technical, and regulatory environments across a complex global services environment
  • Ability to fluently articulate business strategy and operations; translating organizational strategies into clear objectives and business action
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CSCP, CRCM, CGEIT, CRISC, CITP, CISA, CISSP
