Minimum Qualifications


Required-Master’s degree in Nursing from a regionally-accredited institution with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Nursing required. 

Required- Clinical work as a registered nurse is required.

Preferred- Teaching experience at the LPN or ADN level is preferred.

Required- A current unencumbered Alabama RN license is required.

















Essential Functions























Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



The Nursing Instructor is responsible for the planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The Nursing Instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any College campus as assigned. As a minimum, the related activities include instruction, instructional counseling, remediation instruction, academic advising, serving on various committees, participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations. Organize, instruct, and/or supervise student clinical placement and laboratory courses.


  • Organize, instruct, and supervise Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide and the Registered Nursing students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings as assigned.
  • Organize, instruct, and supervise a remediation program for all levels of nursing students.
  • Assist in the preparation/selection of departmental course syllabi, goals, textbooks/materials, grade distributions, and other departmental projects.
  •  Assist in the development, evaluation, and revision of the College’s nursing curriculum to ensure maximum student competency.
  • Assist in writing extensive documentation of compliance with State Board of Nursing, Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, and other administrative regulations as assigned.
  • Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education.
  • Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education.
  • Foster a customer service environment for fellow employees, students, and visitors. Be an Ambassador for the College. Support the college’s initiative to maximize retention of current students and enable students to finish their collegiate goals.
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the ACCS Chancellor’s Office, and the College.
  • Participate in College functions (Award and Honor events, Alumni Homecoming, Commencement, Parson Days, etc.)
  • Assume other work related responsibilities as assigned by the appropriately assigned College administrator.
