Music Instructor


SALARY: See Position Description OPENING DATE: 10/05/17 CLOSING DATE: 10/26/17 02:00 PM JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the division director, program director, associate dean, and/or Dean, Instructional Affairs, the Instructor teaches students according to established policies and procedures to provide competent and effective classroom and laboratory instruction at varied times and places based on student demand.     POSTING DATE:  October 5, 2017   SALARY: Based on education and experience commensurate with Salary Schedule D-1 IA for 9 months (range: $39,600 - $60,415). Higher education level could earn placement on a higher salary schedule.   ANTICIPATED START DATE:  January 2, 2018   This position will be based initially on the Wallace Campus in Dothan.
More than one position in the same job classification may be filled from the applicants for this position should another vacancy occur during the search process.    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SCREENING PROCESS: 1.  Master's degree with major in Music OR Master's degree plus 18 graduate semester hours in Music from a regionally accredited institution is required. 2.  Experience incorporating multi-media instructional techniques into curricula, including instructional technology for web-based teaching and course management utilizing the Blackboard platform is preferred.  3.  Experience inspiring and facilitating learning with diverse student populations is preferred.  4.  Experience conducting instrumental ensembles and instruction of instrumental applied lessons at a postsecondary institution is preferred (adjunct experience will be accepted) . 5.  Demonstrated ability in developing or expanding an instrumental program, to include maintaining working relationships with area instrumental teachers and high school band directors for recruitment purposes.  Demonstrated ability in organizing and directing instrumental performance events, and collaborating with choral, and theatre productions is preferred. 6.  Demonstrated ability to establish a symphonic band and instruct traditional repertoire is preferred.  7.  Demonstrated ability in conducting diverse instrumental ensemble genres; to include but not limited to, jazz, woodwind, and brass ensembles is preferred. 8.  Experience in preparing instrumentalists for music major transfer to four year schools is preferred.   SCREENING COMMITTEE: The President will appoint a Screening and Interview Committee to include representatives of the College faculty and staff. This committee will employ appropriate procedures, including the review of application packets, interview, and demonstration of competency, to determine which applicants are to be recommended to the President for further consideration. From all the applications received, a screening committee will select the applicants to be interviewed. All initial interviews will be conducted in person and applicants must travel at their own expense. APPLICATION PROCEDURES:
