MPS Engineer

Job Summary: This position is responsible for championing the Monsanto Production System (MPS) to drive innovation and operational excellence at the Luling site. This technical role will drive business results across the site by working with cross-functional teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities, implementing the improvements, and sustaining their benefits. The role will ensure sustainability of the MPS program through sharing best practices and standardizing implementation across the site. Scope/Specific Responsibilities of the Position:
  • Utilize hypothesis-based approach to identify and refine process improvement opportunities
  • Work with unit engineers and technicians to clearly quantify the business benefits to be obtained by implementation
  • Influence leadership to prioritize and resource optimization opportunities
  • Utilize Foundational Lean practices of the MPS program to measure and sustain improvements after implementation
  • Develop tools and work processes to track and report benefits that are realized from the MPS program
  • Champion the Focused Improvement Foundational Lean Practice throughout the site
  • Recommend best practices and ensure that they are consistently implemented throughout the site
  • Achieve at minimum a green belt certification in Six Sigma
  • Champion the use of Six Sigma by engineers across the facility to identify and drive improvements
  • Provide technical training to engineers throughout the organization on Focused Improvement and other MPS practices
  • Network with other Monsanto facilities to share and learn best MPS practices, especially in the area of Focused Improvement

Minimum Required Qualifications for the Position:


Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Science field


Experience:

  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Ability to analyze data to build business justifications for projects
  • Ability to influence others outside immediate area of responsibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional methodology training and certifications preferred (e.g., Lean, Six-Sigma certification etc.)
  • Optimization or Reliability experience in a chemical manufacturing facility

Specific Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Manufacturing office environment combined with plant management activities including working around agricultural chemicals and equipment
  • Occasional travel and after-hours support of critical needs
