Further information is available at  The Business Development Manager will oversee the Industrial & Institutional (I&I) portfolio of cleaning ingredients for BASF. This is a business development role in which candidate will partner with sales, R&D and customers to grow I&I business. Candidate will prioritize market segments, customers and solutions to develop go-to-market plan and innovation strategy. Determine key products per segment for capturing growth opportunities. Determine right marketing & training tools to empower sales channels and keep portfolio top of mind with customers. This role is the key industry interface with BASF senior leadership. Candidate will serve as the North American business expert for I&I industry and lead a team including sales and technical to develop a sustainable growth strategy as well as innovation pipeline and business case.   • Define short and long term growth opportunities in I&I, prioritizing key segments/applications/customers
  • Define go to market strategy, how to grow business with priority segments and customers
  • Establish and maintain high level relationships with existing key customers, target customers and industry stakeholders
  • Partner with Global Team and region specific I&I counterparts
  • Determine gaps in portfolio and investments/resources for future success in I&I
  • Develop innovation pipeline and business case for key customers
  • Distributor strategy & growth plan – providing right portfolio tools
  • Effectively lead & influence cross functional teams to support I&I business’ strategic growth objectives

Ingredients for success. What we look for in you…..
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is required. Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is preferred
  • Experience in Industrial Cleaning will be highly preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of new business development, product, asset or business management experience is required.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint are required
  • Proven ability to identify business opportunities and develop appropriate strategies and relationships that deliver both top-line and bottom-line results within a cross-functional, matrixed organization where building alignment is critical to success
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to drive the process across multiple functions
  • Results oriented individual with good strategic, marketing and analytical skills
  • Must clearly demonstrate superior communication, interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with key decision makers at all levels at both customers and internal management including executive levels
Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time domestically. Some international travel may be required. BASFRS
