Manager, User Experience – Creative Services

The Manager, User Experience – Creative Services is responsible for leading a team of UX Architects and Visual Designers. This person reports directly to the Sr. Director, User Experience and serves as a key member of the User Experience leadership team. The ideal candidate has a broad understanding of the User Experience discipline and can effectively manage both UX Architects and Visual Designers. This person is an inspirational leader with strong collaboration and team building skills. This person is also responsible for developing and maintaining the Kelley Blue Book style and interaction guidelines that re-enforces our brand positioning across all of our products and services. In addition, this person will manage and lead UX architecture, visual design and illustration efforts to ensure a consistent and high standard of quality is met for our products and services. This is a working manager role, and as such this person will be required to roll up their sleeves and help the team deliver on their commitments.Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, hire, grow and retain a team of UX Architects and Visual Designers
  • Effectively manage the team to deliver on commitments in an agile environment
  • Collaborate across the product organization on future concepts and the evolution of our design system
  • Consult with cross discipline working teams to ensure that solutions work within the broader context of the ecosystem across architecture, interaction, and style.
  • Lead the effort to create and maintain world class design guidelines across, style, interaction, tone, and voice.
  • Partner with engineering to translate guidelines into reusable libraries to ensure consistent development of design solutions
  • Partner with UX design to ensure adherence to guidelines where appropriate, and work to evolve and innovate the design language as solutions demand it
  • Ensure delivery of visual assets including mock ups, icons, illustrations and other creative elements are delivered on time to delivery teams
  • Produce architecture documents, visual design, UI patterns and guidelines to help the team deliver on their commitments
  • Ensure all deliverables adhere to standards for quality and performance, as measured in terms of usability, consistency, style and business metrics

Qualifications

  • 5 - 7 years experience leading teams to create world class experiences across multiple platforms
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to motivate and influence leaders across the organization
  • Deep understanding of user experience design and usability
  • Demonstrated ability to align team’s work to the overall vision and obtain buy-in support from the organization
  • Effective manager of people with strong team-building and personal development skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple complex projects, people and resources in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, dynamic environment
  • Strong designer capable of system level thinking, as well as detailed design execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; Masters degree preferred
  • Previous experience in the automotive industry is a plus
