The primary responsibilities of this role, Manager Social Media and Community, are to:   

 

  • Work closely with the Senior Vice President, Head of Communications, Government Relations and Public Affairs, the Vice President and Head of US External Communications, and the Director of Digital Communications to explore and identify ways to integrate social media into business strategies, marketing campaigns, corporate social responsibility efforts and public awareness efforts;
  • Increase Bayer’s corporate reputation in the US by developing and implementing insights-fueled digital communications programs;
  • Manage day-to-day activities for Bayer US’ social media profiles including:
    • Create and manage Bayer content (e.g., images, video and written);
    • Curate relevant third-party content that appeals to our audience;
    • Develop community engagement efforts and engage with followers seeking assistance/information;
    • Maintain social analytics;
    • Design, create and manage targeted paid campaigns;
    • Clearly outline performance indicators and implement metrics, analytics and reporting methods;
    • Oversee development of reports for management;
    • Identify threats and opportunities in user generated content surrounding the business and report notable comments, as appropriate;
  • Manage day-to-day agency support;
  • Partner across Corporate Comms/Government Relations team to support the group’s efforts via digital communications.

 Required Qualifications:  

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or other relevant field and minimum eight years of related experience overseeing social media and communications efforts on behalf of clients;
  • Proven successful experience in digital communications and social media campaigns;
  • Extensive experience in online listening, measurement and engagement platforms such as Sysomos,  Sprinklr and Hootsuite;
  • Display in-depth knowledge and understanding of running organic and paid content via social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.);
  • Experience working for a large multi-national corporation or communications agency or firm is essential;
  • Comfortable with the concepts of content and word-of-mouth marketing;
  • Maintain excellent writing and creative skills with the ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and visual formats;
  • Possess good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly;
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and maintain poise under crisis and in high-pressure situations with quick turnaround times;
  • Excellent speaking ability one-on-one, internally and externally, to large and small groups;
  • Experience in, and sensitivity to, multi-cultural environments and issues;
  • Demonstrated experience in excellent interpersonal, leadership and analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively;
  • Experience in working with outside digital communications experts, bloggers and social media influencers, senior management and employees at all levels.
