Job Summary:

Direct and implement strategic and technical financial operations of all Engineering departments by creating large volume budgets, providing strategic operational direction, and ensuring effective organizational implementation; serve as the chief technical resource to field leadership teams by assisting in technical and engineering planning and decision making, and developing new technical products and overseeing their implementation; contribute to the development of the company's business strategy and develop organizational objectives to align with the overall technical strategic direction, including driving the creation of technical standards; provide strategic direction and effective coordination of technical tasks in order to ensure customer satisfaction, including ensuring the delivery of outstanding customer service in all aspects of multiple technical operational activities concurrently; assist with the creation of technical and engineering budgets in excess of $85 million, including ensuring that all expenditures and capital projects associated with the department operate within budgetary guidelines and comply with reporting standards; ensure that new IP services and HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coax) network products meet minimum deployment readiness criteria across a variety of functional areas, including headend, plant engineering, technical operations, quality care and XOC operations; work with various HFC architecture options, including 750-MHz, 860-MHz and 1-GHz HFC; deploy analog QAM and baseband digital transport technologies; perform return path operations in 5-30 MHz and 5-42 MHz environments; engage appropriate intracompany teams to help determine and address operational impacts across all lines of business in the converged services environment; guide and standardize the allocation of RF frequencies for optimal transport and operation of linear and interactive services; participate in new product trials and early product deployment to enhance product functionality, including identifying and helping to resolve field issues, and driving the optimization of operational efficiencies as needed; develop and maintain strategic partnerships with cross-functional organizations to ensure the effectiveness of implementation methods and procedures, and identify expedient and comprehensive solutions to customer-impacting issues; and supervise at least 3 Director-level engineers in their daily technical activities. Position requires a minimum of 40% domestic travel, and ability to conduct technical presentations to internal engineering departments and external industry peers.

Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; and ten (10) years of management experience in field engineering and business operations, including managing multiple projects and initiatives concurrently, of which five (5) years must involve IP services and HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) network troubleshooting and problem remediation; HFC engineering and design; managing budgets and capital expenditures in excess of $50 million within budgetary guidelines and reporting compliance; working with 750-MHz, 860-MHz and 1-GHz HFC architecture options; deploying analog QAM and baseband digital transport technologies; and performing return path operations in 5-30 MHz and 5-42 MHz environments. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, employer will accept an additional two (2) years of management experience in field engineering and business operations, including managing multiple projects and initiatives concurrently.
