Manager Business Development and Licensing, Consumer Health

The primary responsibilities of this role, Manager Business Development and Licensing, Consumer Health, are to: 


  • Lead the internal review, analysis and approval process for assigned opportunities, including evaluating strategic fit, value and developing recommendations for senior management approval with support of other internal functions;
  • Act as "first filter" of incoming opportunities based on understanding of business needs;
  • Collaborate and drive decision-making regarding specific assigned opportunities with internal stakeholders and external partners;
  • Contribute to business case development consistent with the company’s scientific and business objectives;
  • Support M&A activities with focus to divestitures, including access to external data room, coordinate information requests and plan on-site diligence visits;
  • Negotiate basic terms of potential collaborations;
  • Lead drafting and negotiation of term sheets and contracts for assigned Business Development opportunities;
  • Direct interface with the legal department to execute confidentiality and other relevant agreements;
  • Collaborate with Business Development project lead or take the active lead to identify due diligence needs and objectives based on the nature and stage of the external opportunity;
  • Manage due diligence internal cross-functional activities for assigned projects;
  • Support the operational management of due diligence, including but not limited to internal collection of all relevant data and filling of the data room;
  • Manage out-licensing of non-strategic assets and take the lead on negotiation of respective contracts;
  • Summarize duties and responsibilities for the implementation of partnership via Alliance Management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical or Science related discipline, Finance or Marketing;
  • Eight years of relevant experience with approximately 5 years working experience in financial, marketing, scientific or operational businesses;
  • An ownership and results-oriented mentality;
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • True team player;
  • High energy level; hands-on person willing to do the detail work required, able to perform with minimal supervision;
  • Good grasp of the functional disciplines of business, with emphasis on marketing, finance and operations;
  • Clear verbal, written and presentation communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, high level of problem solving capabilities and process management skills;
  • Understanding of business operations in the OTC/Pharmaceutical marketplace;
  • Good computer skills; information retrieval and analysis and application of business analytical tools;
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple complex projects efficiently.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.B.A. or Advanced Degree;
  • Experience in consumer packaged goods and/or OTC/Pharmaceutical industry;
  • Previous experience in business development, licensing, venture investing or assessing OTC/Pharmaceutical opportunities.
