IT Program Manager

We are seeking a Senior Program Manager who will be responsible for driving large IT initiatives to deliver digital solutions that drive transformation in the Business. The Senior Program Manager will partner with stakeholders across IT and our business partners to lead the organization through the planning and build stages for a given initiative with a key focus of delivering digital solutions that generate value in the business. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Partner with IT and Business Leads to facilitate project/program business case, initiation, scoping, planning, and funding approval processes with a focus on the overall program
  • Provide overall program leadership, guidance, and manage all aspects of a given program, including requirements gathering, business case creation, implementation
  • Create and maintain a consolidated program-level plan and review PM plans to ensure alignment to meet program timelines and objectives, including work stream interdependencies with the goal of being able to outline key capabilities that have been delivered and measure the business value/impact
  • Establish and manage change control, contingency planning, testing and launch readiness processes as well as metrics to determine success
  • Provide steady leadership in the face of uncertainty, change, and aggressive deadlines
  • Proactively set performance expectations and help project managers and subordinates manage expectations of delivery and requirements, yielding consistent results
  • Perform program financial oversight and analysis
  • Ensure that the IT solutions align with business priorities
  • Manage program-level risks and interdependencies
  • Promote collaboration and coordination across broad categories of stakeholders
  • Partner with IT and Business sponsors to lead steering team meetings and communicate program progress and status to steering team and senior management
  • Lead cross-functional meetings and foster teamwork; drive escalation and resolution of issues
  • Identify, support and coach project managers within the program
  • Provide technical expertise in planning, execution, and leadership of program, projects, and initiatives
  • Provide program reporting and status to senior management
  • Review program budget variance and scope change requests, and participate in the budget-resolution process
  • Maintain excellent relationships with all levels of the matrix organization
  • Establish metrics that are true indicators of the program health

Required Education and Skills/Experience:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • At least 10 years of relevant IT or Business experience
  • At least 5 years of project management experience
  • Proven leadership and influence skills including the ability to influence when there is no direct reporting relationship
  • Experience in managing large sized projects/programs across multiple disciplines and/or teams
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, business & digital acumen, and industry knowledge
  • Proven ability to build and lead integrated teams from various internal and external organizations across multiple sites
  • Ability to build networks and relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
  • Superior negotiation skills
  • Strong team orientation, collaboration skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Technical expertise & results orientation
  • Expertise in defining and improving processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and MSPS

Desired Education and Skills/Experience
  • Knowledge or understanding of software development lifecycle principles and methodologies
  • Experience with working within an Agile Framework and teams
  • Experience working in an R&D/Breeding, Global Supply Chain or Commercial environment
  • Adept at helping team members harness and develop strengths in pursuit of successful program outcomes
  • Ability to achieve broadly communicated objectives with a minimal amount of supervision
  • Ability to make decisions independently and to assume higher-level leadership responsibilities in critical situations
  • Strong analytical and financial skills
  • Adept at understanding technical components and how they address the business needs of a project and/or program
  • Ability to succeed in a dynamic matrix organization
  • Experience readily applying principles and practices from one functional area to enhance another
  • Project Management certification
