Description About the Position: As a Helper in the Operations andConstruction Department for New York City, you will experience the personalchallenge of working for a world class organization and leader in the Utilitiesand Energy Industry. Pay rate: $15.04/hr Duties: Perform traffic control, flagging functions. Perform manual-laboring work such as digging, backfilling, breaking and removing; pavement, (asphalt /concrete). Helper may work with heavy pneumatic tools; Provide physical assistance for setting up and operating underground tools; work with higher-classified personnel by performing laboring functions in connection with the higher classification. This includes strenuous work through out the day (including but not limited to) squatting, walking, lifting tools and materials >80lbs. Perform similar or less-skilled work as assigned. If hired, employee will be required to obtain and maintain a valid CDL license. Qualifications Job Qualifications: EXPERIENCE: Three years’ similar or related work. Plumbing experience preferred. Should be mechanically inclined and capable of performing strenuous work. Applicant will be required to demonstrate the mental ability and aptitude to progress to hire classifications. EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. NOTE : Must successfully complete the following: DOT Physical, Respirator Fit Level 1 Pre-assessment testing, regulatory safety training, traffic control/flagger training, Gas Fundamentals training, Abnormal Operating Condition Operator qualification training, Soft-Tissue Injury Prevention training, and Helper-specific training programs. Candidates must possess a valid State Driver’s License and meet the New-Hire Driver’s-License Criteria: No more than one moving violation in the past 12 months. No revoked or suspended licenses in the past three years . Less than 5 points in the past three years . No more than one accident in the past three years.
