Enterprise Technology Infrastructure:

A division of Wells Fargo’s Enterprise Information Technology group, the ETI team is accountable for enterprise-wide infrastructure technology across the Wells Fargo’s global footprint. We partner as one team across all of EIT to deliver simple, safe and sound, innovative and integrated IT products. Infrastructure platforms and services are foundational strategic enablers that underpin our company goal to satisfy our customer’s financial needs and help them succeed financially. We deliver to this every day through our integrated services that enable high availability, increased speed to market, a lower cost of ownership, strong risk management, security and agility.

ETI has recently formed a new division known as Infrastructure Engineering Services (IES) made up of over 2000 highly skilled technology professionals globally. This division brings together core infrastructure technology engineering domains, and their management functions, including: Data Center Management, Enterprise Compute Services, Enterprise Network Services, and Enterprise Database Management. This move was made in support of enabling the EIT technology vision, roadmap, and target operating model.

ETI is hiring an executive leader that possess broad-based experience leading large, complex global infrastructure engineering organizations in the Financial Services or similar industries. This includes experience managing large investment planning and budgetary accountabilities exceeding $1B annually. This position will report directly to the Head of Technology Infrastructure.

Head of Infrastructure Engineering Services (IES):

This executive leadership role will be part of the Technology Infrastructure Sr. Leadership team. The position will ensure our data center and core infrastructure technology is designed and maintained in alignment with industry best practice, corporate standards, policies and regulatory / legal compliance obligations. The IES leader is expected to provide ongoing strategic leadership, vision, direction, and management to this organization that is charged with managing, maintaining and transforming Wells Fargo’s vast infrastructure. The scope of the IES role and organization includes accountability for managing all aspects of the following technology domains, platforms, and related services: data centers, mainframe, midrange, distributed, cloud infrastructure(s), storage, voice networking, video engineering, data network services, and all database environments.

The IES leader will collaborate and partner closely with our Architecture, Risk Management, IT COO, Information Security and Enterprise CIO organizations in design, development and delivery of our technology services. The IES lead will advance our long-term infrastructure technology strategy, related roadmaps, and will ensure our investment strategy aligns with these desired outcomes.

The leader will drive collaboration and innovation in their area of accountability, including partnering across our industry and with our strategic suppliers to influence broader industry trends. They will partner with Architecture to ensure engineered solutions maintain alignment with current, target and emerging architectures as applicable.

The IES leader is also accountable for leading the maturation of fully converged infrastructure services. This will enable Wells Fargo to expand our technology capabilities through new and emerging software defined technologies and next generation infrastructure technologies. This includes our pursuit of SDDC, SDWAN, internal cloud, hybrid cloud and “as a Service” (e.g. IaaS, FWaaS, LBaaS, DBaaS, PaaS).

The IES leader will also establish a Center of Excellence for Infrastructure engineering. This includes developing or enhancing engineering standards, practices, policies and training requirements. Additionally, the IES leader has accountability for oversight and governance for all applicable technology infrastructure solutions and technologies used by Wells Fargo.

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of technology development experience
  • 10+ years of management experience
  • 8+ years of strategy experience
Other Desired Qualifications
  • 8+ year’s senior leadership experience managing an organization of 1000 + team members including subordinate senior managers and individual contributors across multi-site locations. This also includes contingent, managed and offshore resource base.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all technology development efforts for a major line of business and ability to effectively partner/influence at the senior executive level.
  • 12+ years’ experience leading an application development or implementation environment including mainframe, client-server data management and web technologies.
  • Proven experience as a highly effective consultative leader with an undisputed presence and credibility as a result of demonstrating strong business, IT and data driven acumen.
  • Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals to quickly gain the trust and confidence in order to make timely, decisive decisions. This includes working with senior business and technical executives in order to manage across organizational functions and boundaries in a highly matrixed, consensus driven and decentralized business environment.
  • Proven experience in establishing a large scale vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership through effective communication, and driving the vision to closure through the effective management of goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and consult with key business and technology partners and translate complex, technical concepts so that they are clearly understood in support of sound decisions to meet business objectives.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully building organizational capabilities including high performing teams, process, and technology. This includes a keen focus and proven results in identifying talent gaps and developing a cultural environment that achieves results through team member engagement, customer loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with direct and in-direct business line and technology senior leaders in long range strategic planning and ensuring integration with enterprise-wide technology strategy. This includes experience and the ability to balance all the different considerations and sensitivities with partners and influence positive strategic direction .
  • Candidate must possess the proven ability to assess information security and operational risk.
