Head Clinical Statistics

The primary responsibilities of this role, Head Clinical Statistics, are to: 


  • Supervise and direct a team of statisticians in charge of the statistical aspects of all clinical trials assigned to the CS group in alignment with Pharmaceuticals Statistics objectives;
  • Maintain all administrative tasks within the CS group (including e.g. controlling CS group’s cost center, ensuring quality of all work, hiring and training of staff at CS group);
  • Report to the Head Pharmaceuticals Statistics and is a member of the Pharmaceuticals Statistics Management and Leadership Team;
  • Promote the development and use of state-of-the-art statistical methods and represents CS in internal and external contacts to regulatory agencies, academic institutions, external statistical experts, etc.;
  • Contribute to the development of standards and oversees the implementation and training in these standards at the site and assures consistency within Data Sciences & Analytics;
  • Provide general statistical consultancy to members of R&D and others in the local/regional business organization. Collaborates with all other functions within Data Sciences & Analytics and the global and local/regional medical and development organization;
  • Keep abreast of regulatory and statistical issues relevant for respective sub-function. Identifies development and innovation needs for department and individuals and implement training and development plans to ensure needed skills are available to provide state-of-the-art statistical expertise to development programs, projects and studies and according to regulatory guidelines;
  • Ensure transparency of workload to enable effective resource allocation.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is offered for this position
  • Up to 30% international travel

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD or MS in Biostatistics, Statistics or Mathematics;
  • At least eight years’ experience as statistician with significant time spent in the Pharma or Biotech sector;
  • Experience in leading/managing a statistical function in a global organization or in leading/managing large global project teams;
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellence in providing direction and supervising and coaching personnel;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Fluency in English.
