The HDPE Focused Resource, which is a Maintenance Technician II, is responsible for the effective operation and major and minor proactive repairs of HDPE production and utility equipment. Works with others to achieve factory business objectives of safety, productivity, customer service, quality, cost and environmental protection.

 

The primary accountabilities of the role include developing, planning, scheduling, and executing equipment planned maintenance plans needed (machinery and molds) in attaining high equipment reliability and uptime, safety compliance, equipment maintenance procedures, data collection, housekeeping, problem solving and continuous improvement as part of a work team.

 

The HDPE Focused Resource works within a structure that requires considerable interaction with others in the same production unit as well as other production units and support functions.

 

The schedule is a 3223 rotation, to achieve 7 day coverage. There will be times that overtime and flexibility will be required due to business needs. 

 

The position is permanent.  There will be an annual review with candidate to determine if candidate is meeting required expectations of job responsibilities.

 

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Implement major and minor planned maintenance activities repair of automated and non-automated making, packaging, injection-molding, and utility equipment through computer terminals, control panels, and/or by manual means in the manufacturing of Colgate-Palmolive products. These planned maintenance activities are to be documented in SAP.
  • Implement “out of machine” mold maintenance.
  • Performs the needed planning, scheduling, and execution of the assigned equipment Preventative Maintenance plans. This includes obtaining needed parts thought the storeroom or by purchasing needed parts or service from Original Equipment Manufacturer’s through the E-Buy system, working with the production line Area Leader and plant production planner to determine when the work will be scheduled, and working with the line operators or other maintenance personnel to execute the work. All work is to be documented in the SAP Equipment Asset Management System.
  • Analyze OPERA data and SAP Equipment Asset Management data to understand equipment performance and optimize assigned area equipment Preventative Maintenance plans to ensure the equipment efficiency and reliability.
  • Responsible to ensure that assigned production line equipment is being properly lubricated and maintained by operator technicians and provides needed training, coaching, and feedback.
  • Understands the storeroom parts storage system and can easily search and find parts as needed. Also, must follow the correct procedure for removing parts from the storeroom. Must also be able to develop a parts pick list that can be kitted and staged by the storeroom techs so that the parts are readily available when Preventative Maintenance plans are scheduled.
  • Fabricates simple machine parts using the required shop equipment such as lathe, drill press, milling machine, surface grinder and others. May also need to contact local machine shops and contactors to manufacture need parts for line improvements or repairs.
  • Work with plant Maintenance area Planners to look for equipment best practices and incorporate into similar assign equipment.
  • Work with plant Maintenance Technician I to understand unplanned equipment breakdowns and follows-up on changes and repairs performed during off shifts.
  • Accurately and fully completes with all regulatory and compliance-related documentation and procedures; highlights variances.
  • Stays abreast of teams’ production performance via visual, written and verbal communications.
  • Participates in regular review of team production performance and uses information to drive continuous improvement. Provides status of maintenance activity for line/area; recommends machine modifications.
  • Participates in structured group or team activities related to line/area performance improvement, e.g., autonomous maintenance, housekeeping, problem solving, etc.
  • Seeks and applies Continuous Improvement tools and techniques to achieve team goals, e.g., Quality Systems, Factory Performance & Reliability, Problem-Solving tools. Works with plant Continuous Improvement and Engineers to design and implement line improvement projects and Capital projects.
  • Understands and adheres to all Environmental Occupational Health Safety, Quality, Good Manufacturing Processes and Micro (Cleaning & Sanitization Guidelines) standards and guidelines.
  • Understands the needs of both internal and external customers. Seeks and understands production scheduling and demands. Prioritizes maintenance activities that support and facilitate these schedules and demands.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Maintains work area to required housekeeping standards. Performs housekeeping activities as per established protocol and conducts/participates in area housekeeping assessments per requirement.
  • Shares knowledge and develops maintenance skills in operators. Identifies new opportunities for transferring skills to operators. Actively participate in continuous learning opportunities. Train operator technicians on basic pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical skills needed to properly run and maintain the assigned equipment.

    Employees selected for this position will be required to complete a six month certification process. The certification will require the employee to successfully complete on the job training, job demonstrations and/or coursework at a technical school.

     

     

    Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Vocational school or technical institute certificate preferred.

 

           Experience:

  •  Minimum of 5 years manufacturing or equivalent work experience in production/chemical processes.
  •  Experience with HDPE Blow Molding Machines and Molds
  •  Must be a current certified Level 3 Operator or above
