Graduate Development Program (January) - Associate Energy Integration Consultant/Project Manager

Description About the Graduate Development Program National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is the company’s flagship pipeline program, targeting recent college graduates joining the company in entry-level full time positions. The GDP is designed to prepare early career professionals for future leadership roles within the organization, aims to support Graduates in developing as leaders, guide their career, and increase their business talents and skills. It provides opportunities for Graduates to explore a broad range of disciplines across our functions and locations, work on a variety of projects, and expand their network. Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an 8-week Orientation. Graduates will spend time learning the core functions of the business, networking with our Executive team, and traveling to our different jurisdictional area . By the end of Orientation, Graduates have an in depth understanding of who National Grid is as a company and how we do business. They have also formed a network with their fellow Graduates as well as senior business leaders, key GDP stakeholders and GDP Alumni. Graduates also take part in quarterly development sessions with their cohort as well as complete a Capstone Project at the end of their first year with the company. About the Position: National Grid is looking for a customer-facing professional who will own and manage the relationship with complex distributed generation applicants throughout the company’s E2E interconnection process. Successful candidates will have strong technical and project management skills, enabling customer sponsored DG projects to be interconnected cost effectively, within state regulated timelines, while achieving high customer satisfaction. The professional will act as the customer’s primary point of contact guiding them through regulatory, legislative and technical obligations, obtaining and interpreting technical documentation, performing preliminary screenings/feasibility reviews as necessary, drafting contractual agreements, and coordinating complex DG projects with multitude of internal and external stakeholders throughout the construction process. As a DG subject matter expert, the candidate will also be expected to provide outreach and educate others on DG initiatives. This position may also get involved in the preliminary (Step 0) stages of large complex electric projects in assisting customers with evaluating the feasibility of such projects. The GDP Candidate must be detail-oriented and analytically-driven, with proven success in delivering quality customer service within deadline-driven environments. The candidate will enjoy working in a rapidly-evolving industry, and will possess the necessary skills to both solve complex problems and communicate solutions effectively to the teams they will be working with, including Engineering, Legal, Regulatory, and Operations. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Manage DG projects with customers, external vendors, contractors and consultants to ensure timely delivery of utility services and completion of the project. Conduct engineering screenings/feasibility reviews, maintain work management system and update procedures to support the design solutions that enhance Distributed Generation programs. Develop and maintain effective relationships with network strategy, account development, inside and outsides sales, regulatory, energy product & program management, jurisdictional teams and external vendors in order to facilitate communications, integrate work and ensure the successful delivery of company’s products and programs. Challenge existing policies and procedures to continuously seek ways to enhance customer service and cost-effectiveness. Coordinate internal and external resources assigned to perform comprehensive engineering studies (i.e. Impact, CESIR, etc), commissioning analysis and reports in order to ensure timely delivery of DG projects per applicable jurisdictional tariffs. Provide technical guidance, support and coaching to others, (both internally and externally) in order to share knowledge and increase understanding of Distributed Generation programs and services. Analyze and evaluate developments in Distributed Generation and Renewable Energy technologies in order to identify impact of different scenarios on the business and strategies for integrating cost efficiencies. Ensure projects are following appropriate accounting procedures. Negotiate, develop and administer all aspects of interconnection related agreements. Provide energy efficiency and growth leads to the sales organization as applicable. Update and maintain company websites with latest program information. Represent National Grid as needed in various industry associations Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution Basic engineering knowledge with academics work related to Renewable Energy and/or electrical engineering Graduated between December 2016 and December 2017 Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; official college transcript required for confirmation Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills Extraordinary attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Excel preferred Ability to work both in a team setting and independently, and exercise excellent judgment Highly motivated, proactive, and energetic Ability to function efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment Preference given to candidates with relevant internship experiences Prior experience within and/or demonstrated passion for the clean tech sector preferred Experience with SalesForce.com, STORMs, Primavera P6, and/or SAP preferred Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program January 8, 2018 Proven leadership experience in at least one of the following: College leadership position (e.g., student government, clubs, athletics).
