Graduate Development Program (January Cohort) - Associate Coordinator, Maps & Records

Description About the Graduate Development Program National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is the company’s flagship pipeline program, targeting recent college graduates joining the company in entry-level full time positions. The GDP is designed to prepare early career professionals for future leadership roles within the organization, aims to support Graduates in developing as leaders, guide their career, and increase their business talents and skills. It provides opportunities for Graduates to explore a broad range of disciplines across our functions and locations, work on a variety of projects, and expand their network.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an 8-week Orientation. Graduates will spend time learning the core functions of the business, networking with our Executive team, and traveling to our different jurisdictional areas. By the end of Orientation, Graduates have an in depth understanding of who National Grid is as a company and how we do business. They have also formed a network with their fellow Graduates as well as senior business leaders, key GDP stakeholders and GDP Alumni. Graduates also take part in quarterly development sessions with their cohort as well as complete a Capstone Project at the end of their first year with the company. About the Position Maps & Records Coordinator shall support Mapping Supervisor overseeing Mapping personnel involved in the collection and input of mapping data into National Grid GIS Applications to ensure safety and to achieve Line of Sight goals Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Assist Supervisor of Mapping with training, monitoring, developing personnel, as well as other varied assigned duties in the Maps and Records department as required. Review, approve and post maps and records projects Responsible for updating and maintaining the backlog databases daily into National Grid GIS applications to ensure timely delivery of information and safe operation of public gas facilities while meeting regulatory requirements and maximizing cost recovery returns. Generate and update various reports as required to monitor performance against Line of Sight deliverables which include Safety, KPI’s & Compliance metrics. Maintain Record Retention database & prepare and process Maps & Records Historical documents as well as others for storage as required by National Grid policy. Assist Supervisor of Mapping in Performance Excellence. Ensuring the Department is meeting requisite goals, identifying concerns and causes of deficiencies, and recommending and implementing improvement opportunities in Maps & Records. Assist in the design and development of quality assurance/quality system practices and procedures in upstream gas Workorder processes to drive improvement on cycle time deliverables Qualifications Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution Concentration in academic studies in Engineering or GIS discipline Graduated between December 2016 and December 2017 Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; official college transcript required for confirmation Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills Preference given to candidates with relevant internship experiences Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program January 8, 2018 Proven leadership experience in at least one of the following: College leadership position (e.g., student government, clubs, athletics). Leadership and/or volunteer experience, in and/or out of the college environment Experienced a full or part-time job while at college and acquired relevant work experience Ability and experience in an Automated Mapping/GIS environment preferred Documented proficiency in Mapping, Engineering, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) desired Motivation to learn to direct, motivate, instruct and develop bargaining unit personnel in the operation and maintenance of electronic and manual mapping and information systems. Proficiency in all Microsoft office suites.
